View Full Version : the bridges of frontenac county (ontario)

took a tour monday before a hearty thankgiving dinner. not so much action shots but more artsy still photos from a place called ragged chutes in ontario. it's somewhat of an old growth forest (which is rare around here) since this was a settling ground for loggers back in the 1800's. they managed to keep some of the old trees uncut and the area is pristine, it's secluded and not many out of towners know about the area. this section is upstream to the mississipi river that flows into the ottawa river. lots of ancient indian portages here as well (I've found numerous arrow heads in the area)

here's the loggers cabin (kinda hard to see but it appears that it has been maintained since I see no overgrowth), the old bridge has finally let go and access to the island that the log cabin is on no longer unless you swim across.
