Well in the near future im of course going to be installing a CB into my Jeep but am running into an issue. Where to put it? Ive seen the tuffy console units with the cb mount inside and cd deck inside it but then I dont know what to do with my stock unit. I havnt actually seen an installed tuffy unit with the mount yet but im sure it works. Anybody had any experience with them or know of where else to install them so they arnt so in view that sombody might wanna punch a hole through my window?

You could put it in the glovebox

It seems it would be to far away for me to use... change channel or grab the mic and put it back.

I got mine secured straight onto my dashboard with 2 self tapping screws. I always leave it in there never had a problem with anyone trying to break the windows to get it.

dont go to gemini...
Brock overprices everything in there...

My brother had the over head unit and he put his in there. It worked really well...
In my old YJ I just mounted it at the bottom of the dash, and no one tried to take mine either...
but I liked my bro's set up better, just close the drawer and it disapears!!!

I have my ham dualbander on the passenger side of the centre console. Works fine.

Ok so let me get this straight. It looked really good up top but this drawer? is this the center console unit or this another setup? got any pics?

it was in the overhead unit...
I'll ask him if he has any pics of it and if so I'll post em up... but it was a slot designed for a stereo and his was the same size so he just popped it in there....
but he had to take the mic off to close the drawer...

it was very similar to this one but now it looks like they changed the design a bit cuz you dont need to take the mic off on this one...

I got a 97 Jeep TJ(Darth Jeep) with the Tuffy overhead console and i love it.Just close the drawer and lock it if ya need to.The only thing i might suggest is to get the single compartment one rather than the dual compartment....My buddies keep bangin their heads on it when we start articulating on the trails and such(I have learned to duck much quicker than them).Gemini wants around 400.00 beans for these puppies...yuk...i got mine off ebay in brand new condition for less than 200.00 after shipping and american/canadian conversion.
I also have the Tuffy center console with locking stereo or CB compartment but i didn't like it cuz i kept bangin my hand into it when i shifted with the locking lid on(for the stereo or CB).I have since cut the locking compartment off and use the open space for drinks or whatever.
Either one of these ideas is very secure for your CB(and out of sight).
If only Gemini were cheaper...............dammit

THE BEST PLACE I HAVE SEEN IT IS ON THE BACK OF THE CONSUL, IN THE BACK SEAT.
YOU CAN STILL SEE IT, GET TO IT, BUT IT IS OUT OF THE WAY.
THIS ALSO MAKES IT FUN FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK BECAUSE THEY CAN HEAR AND USE IT.
(IT IS ALSO HARDER TO SEE IF SOMEONE WANTS TO RIP IT OFF.)

gemini is a rip off...
Brock overprices EVERYTHING

they are soo expensive...
just look on the net and bring a flyer or printout to sport trucks they will beat the price or atleast match it.

ya could mount it upright on the front on the console depending on how much room you have got... another idea that a friend of mine has done is mounted it right under the dash in the middle so that it is still protected when the roof is off, ya can pick special harnesses up from car stereo shops. OR put it in ya glove box and get a special reaching stick

I just had mine just to the right of the steering column...
worked good there for me in my yj...
I dont think its a good spot in my tj tho...

I'll probably just put it in the middle or sumthing... my cb is pretty thin so it may still
work there.
I hope anyway....
