View Full Version : Lemon Creek Trip

Took the quads up the Slocan Valley to find some new trails and put some more BC pinstriping on the quads! Rode them to an elevation of 7500' up an old mining trail and found some sweet quad trails through the trees. Saw a few mountain bikers who were part of an "Eco-Challange" sort of race. As usual they weren't overly friendly looking until later on when we saw them again, they had to ask us for directions back to civilization![16] I still don't understand why these non-motorized users can't share "Public" land with everyone. I am getting tired of dirty looks even though I slow down to a crawl as soon as I see them so they don't get any dust on their gay riding clothes! Some riders are friendly, but in general, not too many friendly waves.

This was the first trail we took, it turned into this!

There is a Kawi 750 somewhere in there! It got so thick we couldn't mow down the alders anymore!

Sasquatch Lake, we looked, but couldn't find the Ranger or the hairy guy from the Kokanee commercials![15]

There was a bridge across, but why use it when we can do this!

I counted 26 switchbacks from the bottom of this trail to the ridge!

Mt. Ruppel, where I climbed to the top of!

Couple of alpine lakes below the ridge

Found several nice quad trails through the trees. Seems like every time we go out, we discover another one!

And of course a trip out wouldn't be the same without checking out an old mine! This one goes in over 3000', but we didn't go that far today. It's amazing how cool the air coming out of these mines is. Sitting 20-30' from the entrance in the hot sun, felt like sitting in front of the fridge with the door open! Natures air conditioning!

Needed the rubber boots for this trip, the water was over 10" deep in spots!

I have no idea, never heard of Monkman falls! We were looking at Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park. Kootenay National Park is between Radium and Banff Alberta.

08-26-2005, 01:20 AM
you might be thinking of MONK CREEK its at the kootenay
summit. theres a frs coming off the main line and a trail
going up to the falls ( priest falls ) the a up father
(next right) a trail going up to a few lakes.

08-27-2005, 05:50 PM

When i do stupid shit...

08-27-2005, 05:59 PM
Monkman Falls are in Wells Grey Park I think.

08-30-2005, 01:02 AM
ok kootenay i was wrong on the Milli Mac Mine trip.
The one i was thinking about is the Tillicum Mine.
To get to this one you head up from Caribou Creek stay
on this road until you get to Londonderry Creek. Somewhere
up there is the mine. My boss took the a cat up there
to open the road up. this mine is on hailstorm peak if you
going to look it up. Map 17 in the Backroad Mapbook 3rd ED.

Thanks for the info Nykoma! Will have to check that out. There is a quad trail to Burton FSR from Koch Ck, saves us the drive to Nakusp and down to Burton!
