Found a new (to me!) place to ride Saturday. Climbed to 7400' on the quads, then hiked to over 8000' to the ridge. Amazing views from there! Found some cool mines to explore, and lots of great atv size trails, some more suited for a mountain goat then a quad!

View of Highway 31A from the old K&S railway.

This old mine was really solid, and excellent ventilation, one of the safest we've been into.

Just to the left of middle there is a Mule buck leaping down the avalanche chute. Speedy needs to learn to be a lot quieter if he wants to get out hunting![f]

Somewhere down there is that buck. I couldn't believe how he just jumped down the hill, it was so steep his leaps were probably covering 30-50' at a time!

After we rode over to another peak, we watched through binoculars as several KTM's and Honda's climbed the same rockslides we had hiked a couple hours before. They were climbing to the snow you see at the right of the pic! Amazing considering we had trouble hiking across the loose rocks!

Then, we watched them come down this steep, loose slope in the middle, you can see the dust they stirred up! Awesome riders!

Nice little trail that wound its way up the mountain side, it got too steep/off camber for me, but Speedy and Wayne kept on going.

Are you talking about the switchbacks from Retallack down to Cody? Never done it, but I've heard horror stories about it! Something like 30plus switchbacks that a truck has to jocky several times to make each turn!

Where you from?

I just did the loop from retallack up and over to cody, then to sandon and around the mtn to where u went up.
Wicked ride! I do it every year at least once.
I can almost do the entire loop from my house on dirt! One short section of pavement....

Sweet pics.
Did the drive from Saradon up the mountain to Idaho Peak (or something) switch backs from hell, finally got to the top and there was a mountain biking hippie festival going on. then the fucking hippies started giving me shit cuz I was overheating and spilling anti-freeze onto the gorund. I told 'em thats why I drove all the way up here, just to spill shit into the ground [16]
