so i noticed my 87 yj was leaking gas and i found out this part was all rotten so i took it off and nobody knows wut it is do any of you no what this is and where i could get one, its stuffed up behind the rear passeger wheel, a gas line and a breather line go in to it. atleast i think its a gas line and a breather line

charcoal cannisters are useually in engine compartment, may be some sort of emmision thing for gas vapours

Don't think it's a charcoal canister, too small, and they have several lines on them, one for vent from tank, one to intake on engine, and possibly one for fresh air vent (intake).

And most of the newer vehicles have them at the rear. Subaru's engineers are about as smart as a brick, they put them at the very rearmost of the cars underneath, and absolutely no protection! [21]

Call the part number into chrysler dealer and see if they have another one and they will tell you what it is,and of course the huge price.

Yeah its a roll over valve i found out, cost about $60 can i drive it without it in for a while
