Ok people I need to know how a 351w oils. I need to get this fixed asap, any and all help would be great I'm kind of in a jam here and tired of banging my head agaist the wall[27][27][27][27][cheers]

does it rattle a bit unloaded at about 2500rpm if so it sounds like it might be your bearings

Ive had Fords for 30 years (lots of them ) and only about 2 of them ever had any decent oil pressure.
What year?
If its old, driver like you stole it and dont worry about it.

Oil pumps are famous for getting weak on them also.

Well the motor is a 74, and I just did the rod bearings yesterday and by the look of them the bottom end wasn't oiling very well or at all. It knocks at low rpms cause the oil presure is really low, I just changed to a mecanical presure gauge and you can't even see any oil in the line and it only reads 10psi at about 1500rpm and doesn't go much high if any.

if the bottom end is sloppy enough you wont get much oil pressure even if you change the bearings (tolerences are allready way past allowable and it bleeds off the oil pressure) as the oil get warmer it loses viscosity and in turn bleeds off pressure easily.(follows the path of least resistance)
have you tried running a really heavy weight oil? 80w?

The oil gallery goes down the center of the block ond sends oil to the cam and main bearings.Fords are bad for cam bearings which why they have low oil psi. That in turn wipes out the mains and rod bearings. Ifn you have no oil psi its new engine time.

Well I think I'm fucked, I'm gonna pull the motor and either put in a differant one or redo the bearings on it and go from there.

If you put in new bearings, make sure u measure the main and rod journals on the crank cus if there worn too bad bearings wont help much, or for long.

well my 79 460 has great oil pressure when cold but as soon as its warm it drops to almost nothing. It does this because my valve seals are old and cracked so little chunks of rubber made there way down in there and the oil pump sucks them up to the screen slowing the flow. I doubt thats your prob but if the engine ever sat for a while you never know.

that is total hogwash. who told you that? oil is thicker when cold hence the higher pressure until it warms up. my motor does the same thing and i just had the pan off. little pieces of rubber on the screen, pulease!![2e]
and if what you say is true why wouldn't you drop the pan to clean off your screen? or change your oil?

welcome to the site

well i have changed it and its A LOT of work to get the pan of if i was only going to drive it for 1 week. And of course i know that oil is thicker when its cold, is simple science that i dont want to get into beacuse its summer holidays. I may be young but im not a total idiot. Anywhey my mechanics teacher said that was the prob and he know an whole lot, and theres like no vale seals left in the truck, it mokes like a mother and gets good blow back to top it of.

Thanks for the welcome

your mechanics teacher doesn't know shit, kid. that's why he is a mechanics teacher.
your english teacher isn't very good either.

if what you say is true about little pieces of rubber getting sucked up to the screen, would not changing your oil fix the problem?

just because somebody says it's so doesn't make it so. it's all b.s. till you see it with your own eyes.
