I'm tossin the idea around of doin a 350/th350 swap in my Scout reason being that it is almost free for the complete donor truck from a friend but it is a 2wd truck so is the tranny no good for me or can it be made to accept a transfer case and is it possible to make it work with the (what I think is) Dana 20 T/C in my Scout Oh and the tranny could be a th400 I haven't checked yet.

what year is the donor? all 1980 were t 400 trannys ,the tranny can be made to work if you dont find another but I would grab a 4x4 tranny and 208 t case and then it will be easy.

money costs too much!!!

Get the divorced np205 and run whatever 2 wheel tranny you want! I dont like the idea of a chevy in an IH, its not even half the quality, but it is modern and made to run unleaded gas.

I agree with you Wade but it's almost free and there is way more performance parts for it altho I'd probably have to do some mods to it just to get the torque back that I'll lose and a chev revs past 3500 rpm the 345 has some sort of governor on it that I haven't figured out yet. How do you hookup a divorced T/C?

If you can find a divorced unit out of an IH with all the mounts on it you should almost be able to bolt it right in. If not you could fab your own relatively easy. Other than that, all there is is a little driveshaft between t/c and trans.
Does your 345 stop at 3500 rpm or will it still climb? My 304 would keep going (3900 rpm limit) beond the redline, but i seldom pushed it that much. The low rpm is a result of things like the gear driven timing set up.

It very slowly climbs past 3500 with little load under heavy load it stops there And what IH came with a divorced T/C?

1010, 1110 and 1210 pick ups. I dont think they were ever in a scout, but it should be long enough to work. I couldnt see the rear shaft having to be as short as a jeep or zuk's.
