View Full Version : Poker Run debriefing

From my perspective the poker run was a success!!!!

This was the first poker run we put on by the group and would like some feedback as to what worked and more importantly what didn’t.

I think what worked really well was the unmanned stations so that no one had to sit there all day. The other thing I see that worked well was the Food. With everyone bringing an appetizer the food never stopped all night long!

What was a surprise was the amount of people that went into the trail challenge class. I figured there would be 6 or 7 trucks in on the trail class and the rest on the standard or “road class”. Turns out only 6 of the 28 trucks were on the road class. I would guess it was because they have not seen how tough the trail where. So next time we need to post some pictures or trail rate them.

Sorry the poker was so late but Rob our fearless leader was broken on the trail. He had the draw as soon as he got the group.

Please post your thoughts!!!

Was an awesome time.[36] Wish I could have stayed later to see the poker being played. Who Won[?]

I agree about rating the trails -- a lot of people with fairly stock rigs jumped into the modified class with no chance at all.

Maybe organize the groups and starting times a bit better in advance so there is a group scheduled to leave at 8:30, 9, 9:30, etc That way we don't all have to stand around in the staging area for 2+ hours. I don't think waiting on the trails was that big of an issue though since it gives you the chance to watch some of the other rigs run the trails.

thanks to everyone for making it such a great success[cheers]

I'll post my pictures and video later this week when I get the chance.

Next time I would like to see the trail class have a separate Poker draw. Took us by surprises that so many signed up for the trail class not knowing how hard the trails were. That was our fault for not posting a rating. It made more sense to combine the two classes as the 6 trucks that ran the road class would have the unfair advantage and again it was our fault for informing everyone how tough these trails were….well for Non jeeps anyways… they had no problems.

I was thinking that we could do this again in the fall and this time make it a sponsored event. Have local 4x4 companies sponsor some prizes.

Come you guys we need feedback – we have thick skin let us know what you think.

I too give two big thumbs up!! I thank everyone whom spent time putting this together. In hind sight I should have went road class and just picked a hill or two, but oh well, now I know what I have to fix before going hard (was first time on the trails). Big thanks to all those who stopped on my many cool down stops (and the battery fall out stop, lol). Wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy the food, but maybe next time. Met tons of really cool people, LEARNED ALOT, and looking forward to next time!! I too think dedicated start times would have made a difference.

So to all those whom made this day great [cheers][36][cheers][36][cheers][stoned]

get your winches ready cause the V6 Toy is taking more trails next time (well maybe get the tow truck ready, lol)

[1c][1c]Hey guy's had sooooo much fun.So did my family.Met lots of new people and enjoyed everything.MY ONLY complaint is when someone breaks down I think its great everyone helps but if its under control don't freakin block the road and prevent everyone else from carrying on.Other than that [1c][1c]

Well i am finaly able to post some comments .

It was a bigger turn out then i thought thx to everyone who came out[cheers]

some things i think worked well was the unmanned stations but next time each station will have different colored ribbons --

The appies for food was great worked out well grill was full when i finaly showed up [redneck]

Things that need improving "THE START" better stagging and set start times .... also the dealing out of the cards will be different --

i dont need people to get me,i just need people to get out of my way

if you put 20 grand into a 30 grand buildup, you dont have a $20,000 rig-you're just $10,000 short of having anything.

Had a great day ..met lots of fun people. Will definatly come out again.

Now realize our Jeep is "stock" we have a 4 and half rubicon suspensionlift,a 3 inch body lift, 33 inch pro comps, 410 gears, and a rear locker. That's NOTHING compared to some of those machines they were amazing.

We should have ran stock class ( or drank more beer) but were not aware of the trails , so next time pictures and trail ratings would be good. I also like the idea of staggering the start times.

If Jay ever gets his dana 60 in his chevy he will bring it and be tree bashen...make our own trail (ha ha)

Hope to see you guys again,
:)
