Well with the demise of my 400...I want to build a 429 or 460 for my 78 F250 4x4 Truck running 41" tires on 20"s, with the winch etc weighs over 6000 lbs.
Gears are 4:11 for now..thinking about 5.13's( but a motor is needed first)

I want some ideas/recommendations as to compression, cams, intakes, etc etc. Stuff someone has run, if it was good /what it produced /worked well and so on.

Two things.....

1. I want as much off idle-5000/5500 as possible...cruise RPM likely 2500 or so. The C6 is fresh, built HD,W a stage 2 kit and a 2000 stall currently. Would consider more stall but that would screw up my cruise RPM and eat me alive on the highway in fuel

2. That brings me to fuel.. I still need to be able to drive it somewhere to wheel it so 4MPG is not an option....I figure if I can get 10-12MPG with 6000 lbs brick in the wind then I am happy with that. ( less in 4wd with the hammer down of course)

Feel free to share your wisdom..Thanks
Marc

edelbrock performaer RPM air gape intake DOVE heads 9.5-10-1 compression and use a 1970 429 CJ cam or be like me and build a 557 stroker with a full roller valve train and aluminum top end

Run 8 to1 comp in it an slap on a 14-71 blower and you should be good to go.

The Big block will provide all the torque you need ,stock.Assuming you want to drive the daily
I would sugest Keeping it relitivly stock, use a dual plane Alum. intake, with a resonable carb,
and try a dual pattern RV cam, this type of setup will give you off idle response, power to around
5 "G" and good driveability.{Crane is my cam of choice}.

I am going to build one also, going to make it have a 4.5 inch stroke and bore it to .060 over and it will be a nice little 540ci ,with a nice cam around .50 inch lift and 270degrees duration it should be around 800 lb ft of torque not sure on the horse though.

money costs too much!!!
