these two pics turned out too dark. too bad. they were up a narrow road on the side of a steep hill that i was hoping would lead to an old minesite. never did follow it to the end...

Further downt the road we went up an off shoot heading south, after exploring its various side roads for awhile we came to the end at a teepee???????

finally came across a minesite!!!there is a large rock blocking the road so that nothing larger than a toyota is safe to take there. im not even sure if the toyota was safe to take. lucky thing i have nerves of steel[2b]

here is the shaft just above that building. Check out the jacket hanging from beside the entrance. must have been there for years. I wanted to put it on but it woulda just ruined it it was pretty brittle.[k]

there was a few more shafts and a boardwalk type of thing in the cliffs above this. the rain was commin down and i had no flashlight so no spelunking :( one day ill go back!

Nice pics! The portal looks pretty solid, too bad you didn't have a flashlight!

Is the Nickleplate mine still operating? Looks like they don't want anyone in there.
