Alright, now that I’m moved into my new placed and got some free time I figured I’d write up a report, on my trip down to California to pickup my new truck[8D]

Truck & trailer all ready to go:

Thanks again Rick[cheers]

Headed downt he I5 then out East and picked up my tires in the middle of the night (2am) from some dude in Walla Walla Washington. Didn't get any pics because it was too dark.

Drove through the night, Heading back West...

Watchin' the sun come up behind us:

Hmmm... probably time to stop for some sleep:

Stopped here and slept for a couple hours:

Light enough to take some pics of the new (and old) tires:

...and off we go:

Headed south-west for a while and came across this cool old railway town

Headin' for the Hills....
(Cascade mtns):
6717

Anyone who’s ever driven with Z knows he takes granny wheelin’ to the max – I don’t think he’s ever driven over 110km/h on the freeway[f]

Can you believe this is him driving?
6718

Yup, it is:
6719

Remember this is a 1-Ton F350 Super Duty turbo diesel 4x4 with a trailer in tow:
6720

Heading down the I5 with a trailer in tow. Hit 30psi of boost too[36]

Good thing we didn’t get caught – Talked to the guy I got my axles off of, and he said it would have been 3 felonies:
- Triple digits[36]
- reckless driving with a trailer (in Cali the speed limit for towing a trailer is only 55mph)
- and some other one I forget…

Made another late night stop to pick up the axles and t-case.

t-case:

Some sweet Toys at the shop:

Picked up the Bling [8D]:

And back up to Sacramento to pick up my new Rig[36][36]

Gettin 'er on the trailer:

All Starapped down ready to roll[8D]:

We've gotta organize a big trip down there to play on the dunes and run some trails too[36][36]

And the TeaBag [c]
http://www.funinbc.com/forum/uploaded/big_ern/20055133756_Road-Trip-to-Cali-026.jpg
37.43 KB

So the TeaBag story and how my truck got its name. No it has nothing to do with that kind of teabagging you sick fucks[16] Somewhere along the trip I had decided that y new truck neede to have a name before I got back home.... It all started On a cold rainy morning after 4 days on the road with no sleep, I needed something to wake up. I don't drink coffee, and I needed something warm with caffeine, so I got a tea. Well when I was done Jim Hung the teabag out the window of the truck to be our good luck karma teabag, and thus my truck was named. Kind of a dumb story, but you come up with strange things when you're dilusional from lack of sleep. So its doner -- and the colors even match [c]

Teabag:

Nice. I was waiting for this write up. Great photos. Well you got me beat on the max speed with my trailer. I got her up to 145km loaded downhill[36]

You didnt rent any toys at the dunes?

PAIN is just FEAR leaving the body!

The Turbo Diesel had some power! We were going slightly uphill when I took those photos[36][36]

I've rented a buggy at the dunes a few years ago, but unfortunately we didn't have any time this trip. Maybe next summer we can plan a trip for a bunch of us to go down and drive our rigs on the dunes[36]

Oh yah, i forgot to mention, we almost got stuck going down to the dunes. We thought there would be a big staging area to unload trailer and turn around, but nope. Just a trail heading to the dunes. That sand is fawkin soft, and that heavy fully loaded trailer sunk liek a rock. Good thing our tow rig was a 4x4:D

finally u posted up pics.. looks great :)

kris.. 10 bolt are garbage.. snapped too many of them on full size.. i even think toy is stronger than 10 bolt if u modify it.. (stronger birfs or something..) or if u modify dana 44 to stronger shafts and everything then it would be strong enuff...

The 10 bolt front and 12 bolt rear aren't really any stronger than Toy stuff. Plus they're setup for fullwidth so I'd have to modify the spring perches. The guy I bought it off of just put these axles under the truck temporarily so I could roll it on/off the trailer.
