View Full Version : identify this 5.0l mustang engine piece please

and tell me a little about it. when i unplugged it, my idle goes down to a normal speed(i think, i dont have a tach), can i run my truck without it plugged in?

Possibly your Idle speed motor. I had one like that that did the same thing.

that's the idle air control valve.if the engine idles properly with it unplugged it may be sticking or there could be a vacuum leak.when that is unplugged the engine should die.

ur idle speed goes up and down right? ( when thats plugged in) fuk thats a common ford 5.0 ltr problem forget the name..mass airflow sensor?

its your idle air by pass valve same problem i had with my bronco and my old mustang, my bronco was idling at 1900 rpm and purging up and down, the seal in them drys and cracks and lets to much air threw there for it ldles to high, i replaced it and it idles normal now

ITS A GREAT COMBO AT ANY PRICE!!!!

I think it might me the idle control valve,a.k.a.idle air by pass valve, if it leaks it lets more air in and make it idle like you said:D

yeah thats the IAC sometimes cleaning with carb cleaner and a new gasket helps alot

is that a cobra intake i see?

trying to get where i want to be

i wish it were a cobra intake, but if it were, it would be sporting afr aluminum heads and that would require a dana 60 front and 10.25 rear locked front and rear on at least 38.5" militarys or better, but thats for years down the road when i have my own garage that i can do all my own work in.

does anyone know if i am going to hurt anything to leave it unplugged until i can get a new one?

it idles better unpluged than pluged in right now, but is it going to fawk anything up if it is unplugged?

them things tend to get gummed up. i took mine off
and hosed it out with brake clean for quick fix.

MY 5.0 DOING THE SAME THING ACCEPT THE IDLE IS DROP LOW AND IT DIES OUT UNLESS I PUT IT IN GEAR THEN BACK IN PARK IT IDLES FINE?
