hey Ive got a friend thats wondering about the 3.8 for motor from like a newish mustang and the 4.2 from a f150, are they the same block, do they fit the same kinda tranny, does the intake mount the same?? he wants put a 3.8 into a 97 or so f150 that had a 4.2 [cheers]

damn,i always get confused with those things.

more specific...the 3.8 is a pushrod engine based loosly on the 302,the 4.2 is an ohc modular engine in the same family as the 4.6,5.4,and 6.8v10.they use different bellhousing patterns,the block is completely different,as is the entire intake system.
