Right now looking at my receipt from Ford. less than 1900km ago I had them replace timing chain cover gasket, oil change, check water pump, pressure test and road test. WEll I check my coolant and oil yesterday thinking I'm almost due for an oil change, as I like to keep it perfect. Well oil is low and coolant is low by about three cups in the overflow. There is a creamy coffee color shit on the inside of the oil cap and around the edges at the top. Oil looks clean on the dipstick and what I drained out looked good. Someone told me to run the truck and check the oil. If its looking like chocolate milk I can bend over. And not the nice way.
Just bought the truck in Sept has 125,000km

Suggestions? Insight? Advice? [h]

Pleaz and thanks Y'all! Cheers [cheers]

A little bit of milky residue under the oil cap is normal if you drive short trips and don't allow the engine to warm up enough. Its just a little bit of condensation build up. Just take the truck for a long drive and see if it goes away.

If the oil looks fine when you drained it and you don't notice any oil in your coolant you should be okay.

Well where the hell is this coolant going? [27] Just spent half an . hour under my own fucken truck. I actually tasted both the antifreeze and the oil [:o)] Gooder! Fuck I don't know what else to do. I guess it tasted normal for oil and antifreeze [stupid]
Ran it hard, pulled up and left it running. Took of the oil cap (on advice of a friend) (nobody told me to taste the fluids, that was my bright idea, thanks!) and no steam or smoke. Check the oil while its running and looks good. Coolant looks good.

That truck is using coolant like its going out of style [27][27]
What[27]could[27]it[27]be????

Pressure test the cooling system again, and pressure test the rad cap.

Don't be too quick to dismiss it, it could be a rad cap. You wouldn't notice the missing coolant because it will most likely just vaporize once it gets into open air. The rad could do the same thing. Or it could be something worse. Check all possibilites, but check the simple ones first! If the block or head were cracked, I would expect far more than just a milky residue on the cap. That's pretty common, and is just normal condensation. It could always be a pooched head gasket, although that wouldn't really explain the low oil level.

UPDATE->just got a call from Connie at Ford service center in the wack. My truck was pressure tested for three hours and there were no external leaks. Said they would give me another update tomorrow. they will check for the posibility of "vapor lock" and "internal leaks"

did they check it hot? Normally you would see an external leak in the form of steam or residue , I hope they are doing this under warrenty and not [1c] you over . (assuming you purchased it from them)

Barracuda, thanks. They are taking good care of me on this one. I did buy it at the dealership but it was out of warranty so they could shaft me if they wanted. Trucks been good except for the coolant problem so its kind of a shame. Maybe third fix will be a charm?? Heres to hope [31]

Did you say it was a automatic??? If so.. you had better taste the tranny fluid, it should have a sour taste to it.. It also wouldn't hurt to lick the blake fluid cap too.[1d]
