Went for a quick run throught the Cathy Crescent gate today and up the powerlines and across to the old creek crossing just to see how badly it has been blocked.

Wow they sure do not want anyone going through there in a full size anymore.
However the quads have managed to get through amazingly enough.

Here's some pics.

This is where you used to come down into the creek to cross it

This is the other side where you used to go "up and over" and past the big rock at the top[:0]

This pic is taken from where the big rock used to be at the top if the hill. You used to be able to drive to the left but now they have trenched and piled the dirt along the hill to the creek to stop anyone from coming up and over there.

This is looking the other way from the rock.
The trench goes to the top of the new "wall".
However the quads/dirt bikes have come up the side of the hill from the creek through the trees and made a small bridge in the trench.

I walked up the road that goes to the left just before the old creek crossing.
It would be quite interesting in a full size but just dead ends a ways up the hill.
You can see where an old road/trail went down to the right and across the creek up there but it is "old" and many large trees have fallen across the road/creek over the years where the crossing used to be.

and of course a poser shot :D

As usual the view from the power lines is great

I walked/climbed down the old cut through the bushes far enough to see that it carried on at the other side of the creek.
I guess the trees could all be cleared but the creek has also cut deeper over the years and I didn't get close enough to see how much deeper.
Would have to follow it on the other side on foot to see if it actually went somewhere useful.
Also, it would be a lot of work only to have it blocked when "someone" found out there was access again.

Next time I go up there I will take proper boots and jacket, try and drive up the side road to the old cut and walk it to see where it goes and what its condition is.
Won't be 'till after the spudspudspudspudspud run though.

A bit of work with some willing volenteers ! All is good ! ---if not what did we do -have a day out there and have some beers !

There are three ways to get something done:
1) Do it yourself.
2) Pay somebody to do it.
3) Forbid your kids to do it.

When I walked up the road to the left of the creek crossing it just ended in a turnaround without even an overgrown trail carrying on.
The road was too good to have just stopped so I knew there must be more to it.
As I walked back down, not too far from the turnaround, I noticed a place where the bushes were not so thick and close together and sure enough you could see the old trail going down to the creek and carrying on on the other side.
It may not be worth any effort if it doesn't go where we want but would be fun to check it out.
The road up to the turnaround is a lot like the rolley loop, close, muddy and twisty.

Oh yeah, next time up I am also going to hike up the road on the other side to see what has been happening and check if the rolley loop is still there.

Yeah..Good pic
It is hard to see the size and steepness with the snow on it.
With people in the pic you can really see what a job they have done:(
