I'm thinking of replacing the cable on the 12,000# winch and going to rope for a weight reduction and longevity. Any suggestions where I should be looking for good price per foot?[3]

Found some rope on the ebay, $330.00 - $360.00 per 100'. 3.45 a sqft, is that good? Seems to be a little on the holy sh*t, expensive side. Anyone.......

well i dont know if its a good deal or not.. but one thing i know.. for bc trials.. if u are using rope and there is some mud and stuff like that.. it will damage rope and have short life... its good for calif people or something.. dry area

Saw a couple of trucks on Top Truck Challenge use the rope and the only problem they had was where to hook the loader up to pull them out. Didn't seem to stand up to well just my 2 bits.[3]

I was told that the titanium coated rope will outlast cable 5:1 regardless if it gets wet or not. The torque rating for the rope does not seem to be as strong as cable, but thats all the information that I can seem to get on it...... Anyone seen write ups on the rope comparing to cable?

I have never had first hand usage of a rope winch line !

Heres my 2 cents worth none the less !

Mud and sand is abrasive and unless your are completley ANAL about your rope I just cant see how it will last !

You could replace your wire rope probably 4-5 times for the same cost as the rope !

Just my thoughts ! Rope may sound interesting but until i see it used hard and put away wet and lasting Ille stick with the cheap and disposable wire rope !

MY MIND WORKS LIKE LIGHTNING. ONE BRILLIANT FLASH, AND IT'S GONE.

The more that I read and compare; I have to agree. I'll put a new spool of cable on.....

in The last Canadian four-wheel-drive magazine there was an article on winch rope, the steel was 8500lbs,sympathetic was 14,500lbs, Super line was 16,500 lbs.
the cost of the super line will probably be very very expensive

don't just say it do it
