was a good day, and we did manage to get a tree while we waited for u boyzen, before we started down ahead of ya all. was a fair bit of carnage, but luckly none to my truck, and it was confined to one single truck. grand total was 3 blown beads, driver side axel Ujoint, and a mans happyness, haha

damage report for the 'little' toyota that could.

well, I drove the thing to work today (with NO brakes) and after work I put it up on the hoist to check the damage..

I pull the wheel off and find;

the caliper is completely busted off the spindle
the hardline off the caliper is sheared off the fitting
and the dust shield is rolled up in a ball like tinfoil

And there is something wrong with the hub possibly on the other side because it is not unlocking. even if it is set at 'free' on the hub. I dont know if that has always been like that or what.

So, does anyone have a caliper for me? I need one bad.

I've got a caliper here, actually two. I'm not familar with toyota stuff, so I don't know what year fits what year. It came of a 92, let me know.

Just to add alittle more damage;

The wagon's throttle cable sticks wide open, and the bolts off the collector's went missing. Needless to say, it was aloud ride home....

ya she was a little nervous but everything worked out ok and we got home alright. as for the toyota, shes gonna need a little work. but at least I have an excuse to do the front brakes now! haha

Allwagon. if you have those calipers laying around, if you are in the area could you drop them off at Mervins The Body Shop? that would be so cool. It is across from the rec center on the hwy just past Spall rd. If nobody is there just leave em at the front door or ask for Dave.

If you are busy tomorrow, that is OK too, I totally understand.

just an idea...

Sorry to hear about the damage, Dave. I feel bad for giving you the advice to rock back and forth to try and break it free. I didn't think ice can do so much damage. You did really well out there, though. That was a pretty tuff run.

dont worry about it Winch. I just wanted to get the thing moving! I couldnt believe that the ice would be that strong. I needed to do the front brakes anyway so Im really only out the cost of a used caliper. And now I can take the dust shields off.

The truck is still all covered in ice.
