friend has just bought her first ever Ford.
It's a hot looking 2000 4x4 Ranger.
the V6 only has 43K on it.
got it's token little scratches on the inside of the box.
no BC pinstriping, yet!......
Ya know, the inevitable scratches that one earns in the back country.
Definately not a favorite accessory for a pavement princess.
Any thing she should know, do the rear ends fall out of them or engines blow up easily?
Didn't do any research.....was just 'looking' yesterday and bought this beauty, first one she saw.
Bill Forbes from Cherry Ford, Chwk. gave her a deal she could't walk away from.
Any feed back appreciated, expecting bashing from Chevy/Toyota gang.
Hey, we like them too.

good trucks.the motors go forever, rear ends the same.i dont like the sla front suspension on them, but everyone has that now(damn car like rides)which tranny?the slave cylinder on the 5spd doesnt like mud,the older autos had some problems but by 96 or so that was all sorted out so she's ok if thats what she has.

5 sp. tranny. don't know which suspension.
got home with it in the dark last night and now it's raining, so not much investigating yet.

theres only one suspension-the short/long arm torsion bar setup.it's become the standard for almost all trucks lately, but its not as strong as the old ttb and definitely not as modification friendly.those use a masda built 5spd that is a very good trans, just check the oil level on it every now and then.if the oil level gets even a little low they will die.if its kept full and clean it will last forever and take lots of abuse.

all sounds good. yes, check oil, on motor too.
we have a great back yard mechanic who loves Fords, has 3 of them.
what kind of gas milage can we expect. 15" tires, LTX m/s?

she was driving a Voyageur 6 cylinder so maybe not much more gas.looking for a few extras for it. on the wish list is a bush bar, tail lite protectors, tail gate protector, have the box liner. maybe a bush bar, storage box that fits in the box. any one have or know of a wrecker who is reasonable for these items? we haven't gotten to the snorkel stage yet. we may be booting up one of the local mnts. look for the bright red Ranger. wish we had a decal from the club, are there any for sale?
