I was just wondering if it is possible to replace the D44 TTB of a '92 F-150 with that of a D50 TTB. I only ask because my pops is lookin to build up his truck for hunting and hauling his camper, and he figures that 3/4 ton running gear may be best.

it can be done, but to put it in an f150 requires some fabrication.if you are out at stave this fall take a look at the setup i put in my wifes truck.its just what you are describing, its tough and works well.

Did you use the coils or swap over to leaves? I have a vague idea of how to do it, Ill have to come down to see this beast your wife has to get a better idea, I'll see you down there.

Did you need to do anything else to do this swap, like change the axle stub pivots to a 3/4 ton set up or upgrade the steering or brake master cylinder?

steering is stock, brakes are ok,some serious mods need to be done to the suspension arms to allow the d50 knuckles to attatch to the d44 arms.d50 center section bolts on,axles fit fine, but all the work is at the knuckle area.we will be at stave on sunday if you want to take a look.
