View Full Version : Bumpy ride need help

I just put a straight axle in my 95 F 250 and the rides alot stiffer (obviously), but when i drive down the street and turn the wheel a little bit the trucks front drivers side tire starts to litteraly hop off the road and i have to then stop and then keep drivin. I think it might be a combination of me needin to get a wheel alignment, needin to get a steerin stabilizer and me needin to get my 38's re balanced because they are a little worn in know. I dont really know if anybody could give any opinions that would be great.

Thanx [36]

Might be just a shock. An alignment would really only change your toe in/out, unless you put in some shims to change your angles. What axle? Did you use the 250 springs? They are stiffer simply due to the lack of leverage in a solid axle setup. Your steering and wheel balance might play into it, but if it only happens after a corner, probably not.

the fact you have no track bar and a forward mounted shackle on a fullsize. i would run a shackle in the rear to eliminate this, or get tom to fab you up a track bar, but the track bar will meen you will need to re do the drag link, running the other tie rod and have a longer drag link. other wise, its never going to stop.

the factory f350's ran a track bar with the leaf springs for this reason also, new shocks or a steering stabilizer will not do a shit without the track bar or just run the shackle in the back.

when i did my f150, we ran the shackle in the back and i never had a problem. you may be able to get really beefy shackles made up and this might help it, but i dont think it will fix the problem.

im pretty sure i hit the nail on the head

So does it already have the shackle in the back? Does the passenger side do the same hop?

[1d] go talk to eric, ask him what happened when he ran no track bar on his 350, same thing you are encountering.
