View Full Version : Princeton camping trip

Headed up to Princeton Saturday night. Rolled into our camp at about 11:30.

The highlight of our trip was going to the Mascot mine in Hedley. We've been waiting for it to be open for tours. Only $20 per person for the tour (about 4 hours) and they bus you up from Hedley. There is over 600 stairs decending from the top of the mountain to the mine area. Going down the stairs is not bad... but coming back up is another story. If you're in this area and find mining history interesting, definately check this out. Hedley is about a 1/2 hour from priceton. We plan to go up to the mine again in a couple years, they are planning to have it so you can actually go into the mineshafts.

Also did some tubing on the Silkameen river from Prinecton to our campsite.
Left early tuesday moring for home.

Sweet pics for sure! I will have to take the tour when they include the mines. We have been exploring just about every weekend around here this summer and I have found (new to me) old mines every time out! Most are caved in, but the ones that are still open and are safe are awesome to check out. And it is a nice break to go from 30+C temp outside to less then 20C just inside the entrances! I can't believe the people who spend thousands of dollars to take vacations out of the country when we have all this awesome scenery and history so close to our homes all over BC!

Good pictures ; I spend a good portion of the summer up there in our trailer; its right on the river at Doug's homestead. there are alot of cool mines in the backroad going up the nickel plate road heading towards Apex. glad to see the pictures as I don't think I could do the tour[don't like heights that well ; so if anymore pictures please post then at least I'll know what I missing[8D]

Radar is going to meet me there on the weekend and then we can check out some of the fishing lakes that are higher up in the mountains [ wish I could win the lottery and live this way all year round.. maybe in my next lifetime who knows..}
