ok, ive really been thinking about this one. want to hear what everyome else thinks about this idea, and if i do it, what could break because of it.

http://www.broncoii4x4.com/wristedarm/wristedarm.htm

it definately works, no doubt about that, but what can you see that would be a bad thing about this?

need some serious opinions.

thanks

Thats what I was thinking, they might look good on a ramp or flexed out but I don't think I'd want to be running a trail with those.

for the same amount of work you could 3 link the front.
if 1 C bushing was sufficient to locate the axle Ford wouldnta used 2
wristed looks like a bad idea
the fact that they make a pin for street driving tells a tale

i run a wristed arm on my b2 on the street with it un pinned it has alot od body roll and rides like a caddy but pinned it handles awesome off road i would not do without it most 3-link fronts are designed the same way (1 wristed arm and one radius arm)

it is however not really recommended for a fullsize as the stock arms are know to bend on heavy vehicles

it's light it's fast it's powerful

everything a chevy isn't

a 3 link is nothing like a wristed
I know the style you are talking about, but that is hardly "most" 3 links

while we are here, I can sell you some spare radius arms :)
I am building either 3 link fronts or going torque arm like stRanger

the lateral axle locating device, known as a panhard in that case, is not counted
look up '3 link' in any suspension book

even car race books consider a trac bar a link in the susp i,ve got herb adams chassis engineering book right here

if you wanna belive it's not a link take one out of a coils susp. and go for a drive

it's light it's fast it's powerful

so a four link is called a five link in Herb's book?

Broncoo

herb's bokk only covers mostly chassis and 2 and 3-link type susp. (and independant)
a four link don't need a trac bar
a 5-link is sompthing that should not even be used in a 4wd

a thumb may not be a finger but a trac bar is still a link

btw your link don't work

it's light it's fast it's powerful

why not a (using your counting) 5 link?
it has less bind then the factory radius arm, which is a nothing more then a ladderbar with compliant axle mounts.

now I do not know what you mean by 4link doesnt need a trac bar.
either you mean a triangulated or you mean a 3 link with a trac bar.
every suspension guy claims a triangulated 4 link binds, as does any 4 link which is why most solid rear axle race cars use a 3 link with either a panhard or watts link.

have you looked in any book other then Herb's?

for the pivot bolt i would use grade bolt so it bends, unlike a grade 8 bolt that will snap and break, i much rather have a bent bolt then it snapping off [1a] i was going to do it to my truck before i had to part it out [j][j][j]
