well, ordered my 37's today, putting the full size dana 44 under the bronco 2 on the weekend, using wh progressive rate WildHorse rockcrawling springs, going to TLE on tuesday to have the steering and track bar all built and set up, getting a full size 8.8, ordering my 5.23 or so gears soon, and should have a wicked little bronco 2 ready to wheel by september.

i think im gonna need to borrow someones sawzall, anybody have a sawzall?[15]

that truck is the same lift and tires, less the full width axles.

did someone say buy a chebbie? no thanks, ill stick to my basic maintanence, you can keep pullin the tranny/motor/rear end/front end/ t case[11]

[15]ya know, at least chevys keep the wrenches from rustin

oh yeah, bob, im going to try my hardest to get the truck ready for whipsaw, but i cant gurantee i will have 4 wheel drive by then. hopefully my tires will be in soon, but there on backorder for 2-3 weeks. going to pick up my rear end this week(fingers crossed), and pick up my 5.13's for the rear end, and get that under the truck.

you 'll be surprised at how little fender trimming you actually need to fit those tires just move the front forward 2" so they don't hit the firewall (you will need to remove the inner fenders on the front aswell) are you going with the 5.5" coils or the 3.5"ers i recommend getting some eb or f150 coil buckets and ditching the stock ones they don't retain the coil very well

have fun i know i do

it's light it's fast it's powerful

everything a chevy isn't

Squishy
07-23-2004, 04:02 PM
just 3.5"ers. stock buckets for now, just want to get the truck up and running.

ditch the 8.8 plan get a good axle instead
5.?? gears on an 8.8?

Squishy
07-23-2004, 09:47 PM
5.13's. 8.8 is perfect for what im going to do. think im gona break it with a 2.8? i dont.

more progress. pulled the ttb, and sat the d44 under it. man its gonna be fawkin big with the 37's(for a small truck)

now i need to figure out how im going to lift the back end.

IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE THERE ARE A SET OF 78-79 BRONCO RADIUS ARM MOUNTS(BRACKETS) PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! THIS IS THE ONLY THING STOPPING ME FROM MOVING FORWARDS ON MY PROJECT.

thanks a lot.

It was in pefect shape when I took it out to put in the 9".
It has been wrapped in a tarp for the last year.
I will unwrap it and take a look at it tomorrow afternoon.
It has 3.08 gears open carrier.
Needs a new brake line block/breather fitting, I took that for the 9".
Make me an offer....(hint - I like budwieser);)

just forgot, does it have the bolt on u joint thing? i dont know what its called, but i saw one the otherday, where the u joint does not directly bolt to the pinion, its on a plate thing? really hope it isnt that style, but lets see anyhow.

Squishy

went and played with it more today. it measured around 6.5-7" of lift. going to need some bump stops to stop the fender and tire from gettin it on.

hopefully i get some 79-79 radius arm brackets or ill be stuck using these cast 77 ones, which i dont think will provide eanough drop ao there will be some binding going on.

It has the "normal" yoke that the u-joint fits into with the little u-bolt kinda holders:)

SHES DONE!!!! Lots of thanks go out to tom at tle4xfab. fucking awesome work, but toms boss is kind of a prick, makes the guy work too hard[15]

this thing flexes pretty damn good. i have the worn out 35's in the back touching the HACKED wheel wells at a full stuff, and about an inch from hitting in the front. shes gonna need some bump stops to fit the 37's

had a close encounter of the shitty kind tonight, was on the way up to run the powerlines with luke, and i hear some pinging, but think nothing of it, then no power, then it dies right after iron mountain store(battery is fucked, kinda bulging on one side), luke comes, i find a spark plug wire off, and helps me bump start it, and he figures my thermostat is gone. good fucking guess!!! so i pull the t stat, and then white smoke, fuck, i blew a headgasket! but wait, i drive it home, as its not worthy to even attempt the power lines in this condition, leave, and it has its power back(what little power it has) and no detonation. get home, and there is no water in the exhaust!!! yes, hopefully it didnt blow a headgasket.

then to top it off, im looking for my digital camera so i can upload the pictures of it playing around down the end of 248th, where is the camera? some fucking asshole forgot to give it to me when i left his house(mudking)[11]

pics to follow[3]

update, the bill is over 6000, added up what ive put into it.
(did the actual math in school today at lunch and i believe it is around 8200 with everything, damn, i didnt think i had that much into it[31])

UPDATE: TLE4Xfab is working on a doubler for my truck. should take it down to a 127:1 crawl ratio. the 50:1 is too fast a crawl speed to try to run the canopener/6'under stuff without a lot of clutch smoke.

and now i have to pull the tranny so that i can change the rear main seal, its pissin oil like crazy

well, i broke the u joint right behind the transfer case, the 2.8 has no power/leaks/burns, so im thinking were going to have to swap this shit out in favor of the good old 302/np435/BW1356(is that right?) and a np205 to top it off.

now instead of cramming all my junk in the back of the truck(if it can be called that) i can go get a utility trailer, and use that to haul everything when i go camping.

Hey i got a 2.9 efi in our BroncoII and it has enough torque to pull a full size truck...and it has done it....

it is all in the gearing.... v6 power is nice but ya v8 is the best....

my truck cant even so the speed limit out to stave lake right now, this 2.8 sucks ass(allthough i have pulled out mudking before, 81 fullsize on 40's, on the last beach at stave we were trying to cross that ditch thing), it does have fun, but needs lower gears or more power, or bolth(going in to tle on dec 7[36]) so it gets a 302(POWER!!!), np435 4 speed(6.68:1 1st gear) bw 1356(2.69 low) NP205(1.96 low), which will birng it to a 181:1 crawl ratio[36], so i can go out and try some crawling stuff, which is what i wanted to do with the truck when i started building it, but before it wasnt geared low eanough.

Ive been drivin around without the shifter boot for a couple of weeks now. It actually does keep it pretty warm in the truck, i recommend it to anyone without a heater! Just make sure you have no exhaust or oil leaks[stoned][xx(] Its also a good way to listen to the engine for diagnostic purposes if you cant hear it over your exhaust otherwise.
