got a 2.9 in my 90 ranger supercab, all interior mods are done time to work on suspension but the 2.9 just doesn't cut it, which would be a better swap a 4.0 or 5.0

5.0L is easy but you will need to change alot

4.0L is a 100% bolt in even the 2.9L exhaust manifolds are the same as the 4.0L

it all comes down to what you want to do with the truck

check out www.therangerstation.com they have walkthrus for both the 5.0L and 4.0L

it's light it's fast it's powerful

everything a chevy isn't

The only problem with a 4.6L is it is wider than a 351W. The 4.0 works well and can make some ponys if you want to spend the cash. Oh and it eats alot less gas than a V8. Buck a litre f**k that. If your good with wiring I have a 3.8L mustang motor that makes more hp's and more torque than a 4.0 and uses full size tranny and t case, for sale.[31]

Fawk. The the 4wd scene is picking up the leftovers from the hotrod scene. [xx(] [16]

The 4.0L is easy if you have patience for wiring. My buddy did a 2.9L to 4.0L swap in a Bronco II, in about a week. The 4.0L and auto trans were from an Explorer. I believe the BII t-case bolted right on.

A 3.8L from a Supercoupe sounds like fun.

Otherwise I'd be exploring non-gasoline alternatives, like some of the turbodiesels from Volvo, Toyota, or Nissan.

Do you do lots of freeway driving? If so the 4.10s will be good. If not put in 4.56s they will be a little lower than the stock tire and gears were. [42]
