Looking for gears for an 86 Sammi. Anyone help me out with sugestions what to look for. Im running "31 right now, with stock motor, and its very rare that I get to use 5th gear. Its my back n fourth to work beater, and goes on the hwy, so I dont want too low. What comes stock on a Sammi? What do most people run on their rigs? What kind of price should I expect to pay?

Most stockers have 3.73's. Some years came with 3.90's but i forget which ones.

I ran 5.13's with my twincam and 32" tires and it was a little low but i could hit 5th all the time.

My bro in law is running 5.15s with a 31" tire and he loves it for around town and wheeling.

Another choice would be the 4.62 gears which come froma.... Auto tracker? i forget which one they come from. They are a bit harder to come across.

you can find both 5.13's and 4.62's anywehre from $100 each or up to $250 each.

I have some 5.13's for sale if you are interested.

3.90 came in 85 ONLY. I run 5.13 with 33's and a 4:1 t-case which is too low for the highway but with a stock case and 31's, 4.62's should be perfect.

Havent really done much with the gearing or any carriers or anything like that, you know anywhere I can get that done at? I could try and install but if I could find someone that would do it for a decent price, I would rather go that route and watch so I can learn about it.

Cool, yah I will swing by. I was in about a week ago yacking with Owen, me and him have known each other for a few years. Had the 2 seater flat deck that I "thought" the rear leaf spring was tweaked. I dont know when my next chance will be to get down, i work graveyard so during the morning I usually am sleeping, but I should make it in later in the week.
