It was a good trip when I did it a few years back. Has anyone been up there lately?

Some say it's closed others say there's a way to get in still. I don't give a shit as long as there is a way in and the road has not been improved.

PM me if you dont want to post it.

It is a "closed road". The main road is meant to be blocked with a drainage ditch and some boulders. There used to be signage posting the road closure 'til they were torn down. The flow at the bottom of the drainage ditch goes into Levette Lake. Not a smart "closure", for sure. In fact, whoever "closed" the road made a hellish mess of the hillside and forest. Regardless of the closure, it appears that there are quite a few people willing to drive through the soft-sided ditch and have mud/silt run down into the lake.

Even if you don't "give a shit",and still go, try to keep from pulling the walls of the ditch down into the water - winch through if necessary.

People I've spoken to who have been up tell me that the road to lower hut has been paved for "normal" truck access to a cel site. The first obstacle has been done away with completely. Shame to lose this trail. Was a perfect trail for near stock trucks.

I hope you'll reconsider and find a different trail to run. It's completely unfair to be shut out of this area because of the few who ruined it for the rest of us - and I know that you'll not be one of those trashing/burning vehicles, posing a fire risk, spinning through the riparian area around the lake, and the like - but the perception given with us going up there is that we (as a user group) can't be trusted to abide by what are clear closures, making it that much more difficult to establish a relationship with those who make the decisions about such closures.

these fucking morons just do not get it
how can running a closed area be the cause of a closure?

they are closing areas regardless of the actions of the citizens, it is what faceless beauracrats do
no reasons required

kinda like an advanced left turn signal at every intersection
hold up a 100 people going straight so 1 car can turn left

there is a bit of truth in his words

I would love to "establish a relationship with those who make the decisions about such closures"
do you have a home address for these people?
is there a dark alley nearby?

Just answering your question, Harry. You & your family have a nice day, now. Probably see you on the trail sometime.

....if the hangover's a bit rough, a wee dram of Oban always works for me.
