1) Check the bridge. Repair/ reinforce if needed to prepare
it for spring run-0ff
2) Wheel up to the snow line and hike in to the stretch of road that
Lizard says is threatned by wash-out?? ...and see what we can do
to divert creek away from bank. Snowshoes for those that
have 'em.

Lots of work by hand. Will need things like old cable, clamps, a couple of chainsaws, steel bars(to move boulders), bottle jacks.

Should get an early start. Who's with me.

As I said in the other post, I'm in if I can get enough shit done for school that I have the day off. [!]school

The only problem I see is getting back later in the afternoon. The little creek crossing at the bottom earlier in the day turns in to a rushing river with all the runoff from the afternoon warmth. [b] I was up there February 1st, and even then there was a big difference in the amount of water after just a couple hours from about noon till ~3pm, so if its even remotly warm this weekend we will have a tough time with crossing the creek on the way home, unless we go up reeeeeeeeaallly early in the morning. And I don't know about everyone else, but I'm not much of a morning person... [18]

That said, if people sill think it's feasible, count me in. [36]

Yah. I knew about the welding party but this is the only weekend in April that I can get up there. All I need is a couple extra pair of hands. May will be Spring run-off and impossible to work under the bridge let alone fording the creek. Those damaged beams dangling into the creek have to be cut off otherwise the run-off will grab them and tear the rest of the bridge away.

Can someone else organize another weekend soon

otherwise I can organize something during the week if there are any other shiftworkers out there??

Lizard how far past the bridge is the area of road that is being threatened by wash out??

Hey Ham, I'm not exactly a shift worker, but I don't have any classes monday or tuesday, so I could still help out one of those days if you wanted to reschedule it. [8D] Sunday would work for me too.

I don't have too much in the way of tools/supplies, but I'll bring a chainsaw if I can get it running. And I've got the stock Toy bottle jack, but I dunno how much that would really help.

I'm in...I just can't take my truck cause after stave 2 weeks ago it needs some serious $$$. I can meet you some where with my other ride and go from there. BTW where is Wilson lake?

I don't have any of the items we may, but I can maybe swing something.

those bearings did end up letting us down at park royal. It was fun changing the t-case next to all the bmws and porches though(except for the one that almost ran over my legs).

back on subject...

Ham if I remember its not to far (going west) from the damadged bridge, the part Iam talking about is the last sharp turn an hill before the lake, I think it will all be covered in snow now, Plus if this warm weather keeps up those creeks are gonna be flowin pretty good.

From what Basher said on the "eveything else" thread it will probably survive for a while longer.
Nevertheless still a good idea to shore it up somehow.

ok, i just got back from taking a look at the bridge and it looks exactly the same as it did a year and a half ago. so thats good news at least. two of the six beams are gone from the left side of the bridge. its sagging close to a foot but still seems very sturdy. i felt comfortable driving over it.

So whats going on with this 'repair' run now? Is anyone still planning on going? [?] I'd like to go ad run the trail Saturday regardless of whether we're bringing tools to fix the bridge (if we even need to). Maybe this weekend we can just go and scout it out a little better? And bring a chainsaw just incase something minor needs to be done.

It might be best that we're not up there too long anyway, since it's supposed to get up to 20 degrees on Saturday, and with temps like that the river will be damn near impossible to cross in the late afternoon.

I'd love to help but i'm broke and cant afford to even drive anywhere, or drink any malt nector for that matter :(. Gots to have the malt or im just not the same! Sort of like the biblical guy who had no strength after that wench chopped off his hair.
