i have the motor i describedand a t350.i plan on puting it in my samurai in a while after i rebuild the engine.i currently run an all toyota setup and i used the 4 spd because its nice and short.i looked on advance adapters and they dont sell an adapter for it because the bell housing is not a bolt on.so i either have to run a 5spd toy wich means i need to get a different tcase also.but if im going to cough up dough id rather end up w an auto.but id like to keep the tcase i have because its allready in ther and i went to all the trouble of mounting it and machined my driveshafts accordingly.iv seen a sb 350/t350 run through a toyota tcase and live in a huge runner w 39s and a throttle happy driver so im sure it could stand up in my suzuki.any other imput on my situation will be much apreciated.

The SM420 is even shorter. They're just noisy and shift like a stick in a bucket of bolts. I like them [^] They are getting harder to find syncros and other parts for. SM465 is stronger, more common, and easier to get parts for.

I do think the powerglide is the shortest, but I don't know about availability, especially for 4x4 aplication.

Is this going into a sammi? The best combo for your aplication would be a sm465 married to a rockwell transfercase, If you can find one. I was told a couple years ago to go get a truck from a field that was just for scrap. My trailer was busted at the time and after a month I told another friend of mine to go get it, just worthless scrap. I hadn't even looked at it, just way out in a field. He's now running that combo, sm&rockwell, and I'm kickin myself for sending it his way. If you can find one, grab it. The trannys are the same, but the addapter and the case are the hard ones to find.

you mean the t221 or 223 ?
I would like to see one of those in person

I think the lengths of the 465 and autos are pretty close
465 is 12" case + ~6.5" adapter + ~6.5" bellhousing

Mines a t223. I could post some pics tommorow if I can dig it out of the snow. Their biggest advantage is the drop outputs.

I'll go measure a few combinations tommorow and post the results. It's like christmas here now with all the snow melting. Just found a set of propane tanks I'ld forgotten about.

Sorry, just found a t223 online. That's not what I have, or would work. I'll get the #'s tommorow.

im swapping a powerglige out of my chevelle soon and putting in myt350.i havent looked at it real good but im prety sure its a direct swap.so i hope they are the same length or i may have to do a little driveline work.but if they arent ill still put it in,and that may work out well.

Good call. I guess that's what happens when you have way too many parts kickin around. On the bright side, I've been looking for a 400-205 setup, guess I shoulda just pulled some more weeds.

I have a th350 and a 203 in my sammy. I would go with a sm465 and 205, nice and strong and short.

$75 at pyp. At least with the old owners. Not sure if the prices will be rising with the new owners. Most wreckers want $200-$400 for one, and that will be withou the addapters ect.

Usually with a 205, if it rotates, it's good. Very few problems with them. auto tranny's are a bit harder to determine, but if it is blown, you can usually get a rebuilt for $500.
