What are you looking to get? If you want more power change the gears in the diffs, ther is not much you can do on a budget to improve the performance of a good runnig 305 4 barrel, and in a 5000 pound vehicle you nee torque, from either gears or cubic inches.

sounds good...I'm not running a carb (its got efi), and I have 3:73s with posi already. Should I bump up to 4:11s?
How much lift should the cam have?
Thanks for the help!

I'm running 3.73 in my 72 Blazer that wieghs 5000 lbs.I went from a worn out 350 to a 400 h.p. 406 and my seet of the pants you would thik it should have felt like double the power, but it only felt like about a hundred more. The big weight of the vehicle realy deminishes the improvements you make,so if you want to notice the money you spend you have to spend LOTS.In my case its all a comprimse as I drive the truck daily, tow it behind the motorhome in the summer, and also tow a 3500lb.boat.With the 35's and 3.73's it seems to be the perfect coprimise.
