I am changing my ps lines to -6 JIC
the stock 1977 fittings are
pump 5/8-18 inv
box return 5/8-18 inv
box in 11/16-18 inv
the pump return is going to be the custom fab part
I think I will have a friend TIG a -6 fitting to the tin can
I may also run the return through the currently unused tranny cooler line in the rad
I will update this as I get it done

I ran my return line through a tranny cooler as well as drilled out the high pressure outlet on the pump a tad bigger, what a difference it makes no more squealing and the pump can over power the detroit.

how much bigger?
it is all on the bench now
my pressure whatchamacallit has 3 shims and I was wondering if I should mess with it
I know of others that have had their pumps gernade the casting from moding too far

I used the info from the above site. I did step 2 and step 4.

so you didnt mess with the shim stack?
do you recall if you had shims to mess with?
did you do one step at a time or did all mods at once and run it?
I am leary about going to far and splitting the pump so I think I will leave it untouched for now.

I got the -6 JIC lines today 90deg off the pump and 90deg off the box
the return line can be slide on the res nipple and hose clamped.
my res is all beat to hell so I am not sure I want to trouble my welder friend to TIG a -6 JIC to it for the return.
long term I am going remote res so I may just go hose clamp return for now.

until I determine the exact length and clocking of the fittings I got 1 end crimped, will mock the box when the rest of my inv flare adapters come in tomorrow.
I have the 11/16 one from goodridge but the other 2 are Aeroquip and had to be ordered

No I didn't mess with the shims and yes I did it all at once, I can steer the truck with my pinky finger with the hubs loocked , night and day difference

lines are done and in.
I opened the port up and notched it as well, didnt pull the spring or remove any shims.
of course, I do not have even a drop of ps fluid or atf around so cannot test or bleed it.

hey wait a minute I can syphon some hydra fluid from the work truck...

still have to adjust the angle of my steering arm and try to retaper the pitman.

I still get some squealing happening
both the pump and box are used pieces so I am not complaining
steering is sportscar quick
