If 37's will break it, could it handle 36's or 35s?

its a 90 f150 short box single cab

I also would say with a locker...
Larger than 35" would put a lot of stress on your axel's. depends really on how u abuse it : ]

It is a daily driver, some trails and mud, nothing too extreme

3.55's, id like to go 4.10, but lack of money is stopping me at the monent

You can get a set of 4.10 for around 250.00bucks with new bearning's and seals.
I believe ( i could be wrong ).
I would still invest my $ in a pakage comes with your choice of gears and locker. $$$$$
Christmas is coming I know that is on my wish list...

a 8.8 has the same size axles as a 9" the only problem is c clips look for a c clip elimanator kit or just don't worry about it i off road race with an 8.8 lincon locker and 35s
