On our last camping trip to Clear Creek/ Nahatlatch lake I ran out of gas!

I filled up in Harrison and on the way out to Boston bar the tank ran dry :-( I packed extra gas on the trailer but forgot to pack the spout for the can. Luckily Dan had extra gas and I used that to get back to the gas station. THANKS DAN!!! If I don't tow the trailer I have no room for extra gas so I'm kicking around the idea of buying another tank.

The Area tank is 26 US Gallons which is 22 Canadian gallons or 98L
-This will cost $514.47 Cnd plus shipping.

Right now my tank is 17 US Gallons which is 14 Canadian Gallons or 66L
-That is an increase of 9 US gallons or just about two jerry cans.

The other way is to buy a gas tank mount for the bumper from Serious Metal Fab in North Van. He says they will be about $100.00 but it will only hold one gas can.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I guess that's what you get for running a 360 in your Jeep

I have the 15 gal 4 cyl tank in my jeep. Jeap thrills said it would be $150 for a used YJ 20 gal 6 cyl tank. and 2 hours labout to install if I wanted them to do it.

fuels cells aren't that expensive and you can get them from 5gal to 35gal (this is the more common size range i remember seeing them in a lordco catalog 25gal $170ish so it's not that much fab some mounts make a skidplate and you'll be under $300

I've always wanted an extra fuel cell in the back, that I can switch to if I run out, far more convenient than a jerry can, since the can takes up just as much room in the back anyways, and this would be way more slick. . ;)

unless you have a rear seat,
(I don't even put the rear seat in my cj5, nobody ever wants to sit there!)

Can someone explain to me why a fuel cell is NOT DOT approved? At least, I think this extends to Canada. In any case, fuel cells are used in all manner of race vehicles....and race vehicles have far more stringent safety requirements than your car/truck.

I quote from an article on fuel cells from the October issue of Off-Road.

Currently, fuel cells are not legal for use on vehicles operated on public roads. We haven't found a fuel cell that has been approved for on-highway use by the department of transportation (D.O.T.), and a fuel cell won't pass the visual inspection by a smog referee even if the factory fuel cap, filler tube, and all emission equipment are in place. What this means is that if your truck was built after 1974, you won't pass a smog inspection with a fuel cell installed.

OFF-CAMBER
I have all the answers......as long as I get to ask the questions.

there is also a rack that can go into your receiver hitch that will allow you to carry 4 or 5 gerry cans or two cans and other stuff .we use these at winter camp out they work well..
