the whole board seems devoid of tech
not just the chev section

09-21-2003, 09:56 AM
Hey I'm a chevy guy too... Seems never to be any real info in hear so I don't check in to often.[5]

I have a couple of Chevs... 84 Burb and a 91 crewcab.

I find its kind of dry here too. I think all the Chevy guys are over at CK5 paying for membership [k][19][6]

Anyone know any good tech BBs?

not all of us [11]

hey u2slow,
I need some transmission info.
1- mainshaft diameter for 32 spline 465.
2- distance the 32spline long 205 input extends out of case.
3- I need schooling on ford manual truck trannys

my dual 465 project prototype is being machined as we speak.
after the 10 spline prototype is done, pricing on gear blank and cutting will be addressed.
I need a tester, tRusty may not be into it as his rear driveshaft is 42" now.
my dual tranny adds 13.6" to geartrain length.
he is concerned about 29" rear shaft being too short.

still 2-3 weeks off from having completed dual 465 in my hands

09-22-2003, 03:26 PM
question 1 i can get for you as for question #2 what do you need to know? the measuement that the 205 comes forward or the trany from the rear?

the distance the long 32 spline 205 input shaft extends beyond the 205 case.
looking to get a custom mainshaft made in 32 spline as short as possible for the dual tranny idea
hoping to get lucky and have the long 32spline 205 input extend out far enough that with my custom short 465 mainshaft in the second tranny as well there will be room for TC linkage
this might save even more off the total length

thank you for any input you can provide

I've got an 89 S15 Jimmy 2putt8 guttlesswonder [36]

I am a jeep guy, but with chevy drivetrain... The NP205 32 spine rear output is 1.406 inches or something close... I know that. Not sure about the SM465, as mine was already attached to the t-case.

I'm a Chev Girl, but i haven't been on the board L8ley. It's the whole summer thing, there's actually stuff to do other than sit inside and web-wheel.
But now I need shocks :( Then i get to go wheeling again.

09-26-2003, 04:09 PM
hey Andrea, lemme know when you get your stuff together out there and i'll head out your way and meet up for some wheeling. i got a new toy now to try out!;) fix that cv rear angle up yet?

09-29-2003, 10:11 AM
Rocco's all ready talking about getting you down here so we can hit some tails. I JUST need new shocks and i'll be ready.
I heard about you new toy! Can't wait to see it in action!

I can't belive you used ford and chev in the same sentence if you want chev guys they are all at the local pick-a-part or they are buying rolls of duck tape to repair what evers left of there trucks.the only time I use ford and chev in a sentence is when I'm telling a buddy that I spent the day in my ford pulling all the broken down chev's out of the bush all day. ford rock[36][!]on chev

I must a hit a sore spot with that one, but I only speak the truth I can't help the fact that ford is all around better then anything chev ever put out. come to grips with your self man ford for life[5]

10-09-2003, 07:59 PM
i have chev parts in my ford

because i go with what performs the best

they're all just metal nuts and bolts anyways (just choose your body style and add drivtrain of choice kinda like big rigs)

10-09-2003, 08:46 PM
hey were at the local pick a part because are trucks are worth keeping
besides the last time i had a ford i had a bitchin time just giving it away:D

10-10-2003, 04:12 PM
I agree with broncoo on this one... chev parts... ford parts... whatever, as long as it works. Everyone is using Dana Axles and spicer parts in the end anyways... New Process makes the good t-cases for everyone... sooo... whatever.
My jeep has chev engine and tranny, ford hubs, with wagoneer brakes on scout dana 44 axles. Not only that but the rad is out of a 81 dodge van... Driveshaft is a cut down 78 ford front driveshaft... I will probably end up with some seats out of an import by the time i am done... [9]
All vehicles suck stock... period, otherwise we wouldn't have to add lockers and a lift kit to everything...
