well, It's definately on her last few kilometres, judging by the sounds of metal on metal deep inside the block. when I had the rear-main seal done, there was noticable amounts of metal shavings down in the oil pan... that was months ago, and now, trust me, she's about to blow!

guess I'm looking for some suggestions.. I've been told I might as well find a 360 at this point, theres a lot of good new accessories on my engine I could still swap over to the 360 (i.e. alternator, p/s etc.) .. or should I just get my 304 rebuilt ?

$$ is an issue, but I don't even have an idea what this potentially could cost.. considering I haven't decided on the solution yet.

why did this have to happen right before summertime ! :(

I know you guys love to give the advice! [h] what would you do?

thanks, sean

Or a 302 , also cheap, and readily available.

You can take the boy out of the country, but you cant take the country out of the boy.

The 302 Ford and 350 Chevy are not the easiest swaps as you will need an adaptor to make them fit. The 350 is also not the cheapest because of adaptor. Yes after the 350 is in the parts are cheaper.

Go 360 because:

1) a very easy swap, everything will fit and you can use your old parts, no adaptor needed

2) stay Jeep !!!

3) if you are on the trail with us the chances are that we will have the spare parts you need. If you have the Chevy or Ford you are on your own.

4) stay Jeep!!!

5) Craig at Jeep Thrills has two for sale. Call him at 604-465-5559 for details

gimme $150 and i'll pull a runnin 360 out for you! we have like 12 of them at kelowna PYP now and they only run like $134 or something like that complete. Ok harry you are talking about adapters for a chev engine--- what if you swap out the tranny to a chev th400 as well as the t-case to an np205 or something of the sort. will all new mounts have to be made or how straight forward would a swap be? oh i wouldnt be 350, i would try a 454 first off despite the big block buildup costs

There aint no replacement for displacement

craigs been away for a couple days now, but I think I would decide pretty quick on the 360... easiest to do, and theres no sense rebuilding the 304.

jeep might be coming off the road this week, I've got lots to do before summer! (besides the engine)
