Went and picked up my 4.3 from the machiene shop today. [30]
Man it looks good! Had to be bored out .060 over, ground the crank .010 on each and a set of flat tops. Will have 10.4-1cr. Havent decided on a cam yet. I will get some pics of it soon.

Still more to do but it is one big hurdle under the belt!

why such a high compression ratio? Isnt that gonna be a little hard on it with pump gas? Not to mention trying to get it to turn over? Hope ya got a good torquey starter!!!

(shoulda stuck with the Toys?)hehehe

Lucky guy....wish I had a 4.3 to put in my truck.
10.4:1 isn't that high a compression ratio. I used to have a built 302 in my old King Cobra...12.5:1 Now that required Premium to even think about running.

I wanted to get more torque out of it. Shop said it will run 230-250hp and 300-330tq depending on the cam I install. With standard flat tops pistons and the 64cc head the cr is up there. I did some work to the heads so I shouldnt have any problems with fuel. [5] Gota love them old-timer hotrodders. They have a vast knowlege of what works and what doesnt.

It is not actually a 4.3L anymore... Now it is a 4.6L! [49] Now I need to decide if I want to run the stock manifolds or headers on it. I am leaning to building headers.... [a]

Headers for sure. Why go through all that work and the damn thing cant exhale?

I was thinking, did they shave the heads or deck the block already? Or is it the pistons giving you that high a comp. ratio?

The pistons are normal flat tops which give 9.2-1 with a 76cc chamber head. With the 64cc heads the cr is 10.3-1 and then they decked the block so 10.4-1.

I will probably go with headers. Now to find a set off of A v8 Chev.[8D]

is this vic?? If so, do you need a set of headers to copy or to cut apart?? I got a couple you could probably borrow for copying but I need them to jig some new ones later.

Hey John, Yeh it's me.:D Are they for the 4.3L V6? Or V8 Chev? I have a set from a Chev Truck (V8) allready.... Shouldn't be that hard to build them from that but if you have something from a V6 that might help....

Thanx!
