Every time that you turn the wheel... it is a mystery if it will respond the way you want it to or not ;)

Hey... I know of this guy... he can put in a D44 in the front of that thing if you want... LOL

Yeah... but you've also been smart enough to drop the TTB [27](Two Times Broken) and put in a SOLID D44 up front....[5]

Any idea what a D44 would cost to put under the Ford Explorer?

'85 Bronco as listed below. The rusty, I mean trusty, (naw I do mean rusty) old beast has not let me down yet. It starts right up every time and gets me where I'm goin'. Although I'm sure with the right amount of stress any number or things will break.

here are the parts you need as i am doing this on a BroncoII (same as ranger or explorer)
Early bronco D44, radius arms, track bar $150.00
3.5" EB coils for 6" lift $178.00
radius arm brackets make yourself=$20.00
track bar bracket make yourself=$20.00
new ball joints $120.00
new brake pats $150-$250
modified front driveshaft $100-$300
steering $the cost is up to you
that pretty much covers it for a basic swap
this all takes about two days to install

my b2 will have 5.0 HO/c6/np205/14boltFFrear/D44front/36"swampers just lots o pieces right now

broncoII project should be done for april-may
custom everything!

[^]Just a question about the axle swap? I just purchased a 84 Bronco XLT 5.9, 9 bolt rear in beauty condition but as we all know its got the rickety IFS. For total cost with out installation would be about $1000-$1500 right? I know its gotta be different for a full size? Will it cost more? Bout the radius and track arm brackets- whats the best way to make these and with what?
Also, I've heard the rear 9 bolt is a good axle or should i consider swapping that too? Whens AC/DC comin to town?
Live it up[36]

P.S. what is Bruce's User name? I just met him and Scott on Wednesday night and was just looking for some chat! Thanx

Broncoo
02-06-2003, 06:11 PM
it's not a 9 bolt it's a nine inch" rear and you most likely have a 8.8 inch rear i belive they discontinued the 9" in 83' or 84'

but anyho the sas would probably be the same cost maybe cheaper, as fullsizes are more plentiful. for the radius arm bracket you could just use stock f150 brackets and even a stock f150 track arm bracket with minor mods. this kindo mod (sas) is for big tires cuz the swap itself even if you use coils with 3" of lift it will work out to about 8" [36]
you must use aftermarket coils cuz of clearance from diff to eng crossmember

p.s. there are many places that you can look at peoples trucks that have had this done some are good some are terrible

Good luck if you do it

broncoII project should be done for april-may

Hey, i got an 84 Bronco and shredded the front left axle shaft[V]
The real problem however is that i cant pull it out? I dont know why it wont just slide out (is this something only known to IFS specialist?)? Is their a secret to this? It seems as if its locked into the pumkin? Is their a way around this or is it just so twisted that im gonna have to cut it then remove the pumpkin for inspection?
any info would be great! Thanks,
Chase[36]

Here is a great step by step with pictures of the process. I hope to do the swap myself later this year.

Hey 87Ranger... Fords are ok ... just make sure you have lots of speed tape to cover up the rust rot around the wheel wells and the tail gate. (broncos mostly)

yeah that rusting thing is a PITA today i found out that a very high pressure washer will blow off rock gaurd and bondo/primer lol i know what im doin in a month[2] or when ever it decides to stay nice longer than 3 days

OldEnuff
03-27-2003, 09:03 AM
I may have to "modify" my fenders to put 33's on with no lift. If so the rust will be cut out then and fender flares put on. Going to go to 35's eventually but will need the lift like you have before that.
The tailgate is still good at the latches and hinges so I will just do the bondo thing until the whole thing goes bad.
Like you said, if it ever dries out enough I have lots of places that could use a good thick coat of rust paint.
