What do I have for options?

Grind a slot into it and try with that?
Weld a good nut onto it and use that? (HAMISH!!! :))

Or?

a sharp chisel will do it.
put it at 90 deg to the plug and give it a few good wacks to make a notch in the side. then angle it slightly (like 45 deg) so that when you hit it, it turns the plug counter clockwise. you may have to do this a couple times, but its always worked for me.

i drive a truck. it's a 4x4. it has big tires. it goes vroom vroom.

J's idea works great, if not I will weld a socket to it. Jet in touch with me. I will be picking up my welder in the next day or two.....

Hamish,

I'm taking the 4runner in to get checked on Thurs. morning at 8. After that I should be in the garage all day trying to chip/grind the paint off the inside of the tub

Stop by if you're in town, if not, no worries.

Got the diff plug off with the Crazy J method. Took a while and quite a chunk of the plug, but it finally came loose

Thanks again
