OK, i need to do something. My poor '74 1ton needs to be lowered. i have a 6" suspension lift and a 3" body lift. I need to either cut the 6" lift in half or takeit out altogether - i am freaking tired of doing u-joints and replacing drive shafts... who can help me? i havea bit of dough to put into it but it's all much needed for Merritt... *wink*

any suggestions would be grand!!

Drop your t-case and rotate your axles. I've rotated both my axles and no problems. It's a little easier to cutt the old perches off, grind a bit and reweld new perches than to redo the lift.good luck

It's even easier to just add some angled shims! Cheap too..

Bugs, is this what you did on your rig? Moved the spring perches?

Yah Kalvin your right. I was thinking about that the smorning when I was taking a shit in the can. I should have type that. I did make some sloped blockes for the rear. You must check them out. It was the front that I redid the perches. Again you must check out. While your down there could you grease up everything.
I was working on my rig last nite and I gained another 2 inches of travel on my rear springs. That's a total 21" now.She twists up good now.I need bigger tires. That's all I dream about now. Don't tell mrs. killerbugsbunny. Two more days and counting.

2 more inches? 21" total?

Holy crap batman! How'd you pull that one off?

Y'know, I was under the truck yesterday lookin' for where I'm gonna mount my new recovery hooks. And came up with a few ideas...I'm going to build a skid-plate for the front. Dunno if it'll help much, but I found a piece of metal that's bent to almost the perfect shape.

Anyway, I was also looking at my rear springs and thinking about how I'm gonna get some of that block outa there.... I've decided to go ahead and do the shackle flip. But now that I've been thinking about it, a revolver-type shackle would rock and be pretty easy to fab up. Want in on this project?

What fabbing. All you do is cut the bottom out of the thingy and rotate the other thingy and rebolt the thingy. Then remove the block thingy and reattach the spring thingy. Weld a little thingy here and there and walla. That thingy is easy.Just having fun
What I would do,is Make a traction lift. Much gooder.Much easier.Remove the 2' block and replace with a traction bar lift. Also easy to make. That would do two things stop your axle wrap and maintain your lift.Just a idea.

Yeah, guess it's pretty easy. Since my 2" block is steel, I may just add to it for the traction lift.

As for the shackle flip.. I'd also want to brace the other side of the hanger. When you flip the shackle like that, it's gotta add alot more twisting torque to that hanger. And what about my idea of building a revolver-type shackle?
