My dad's dodge(91 2500 4wd) has a leaky oil pan. Not huge but thinking I might fix it for him while he's not allowed to drive. How hard of a job is it? Looks pretty tight to the crossmember.

Bruce?

Yup hard to get pan out without pulling motor if not impossible to do
If you can get to where it's leaking or tighten pan bolts
Mine was the tappet cover on side of motor leaking and front cover
Best thing is to clean engine let it dry then fire it up and look for the oil leak
Took five cleanings before I found my leak
And I cheated on the timing cover brake cleaned it up good and ran a bead of right stuff along seam where the leak was and left it for 24 hours no leaks now
This might work for the pan leak

Or just hose it down with a couple cans of this 178764

I wouldn't want to remove the oil pan on a 5.9 . Looks impossible haha

Put the expense OEM o ring on my transmission dip stick, leaked like a sieve. Smeared rtv on the outside, not a drop. Sometimes the redneck fix works

ford sells oil pan sealer i used it on my oil pan where the dip stick tube enters about 4 years ago and never leaked again. my 7.3 also requires removing the cab to lift motor enough to remove oil pan. stupid shit.

Crossmember will be in the way, u gotta lift the motor, we did my boss's 5.9 not too long ago, was a fuckin cunt, had to use excavator to lift motor cuz hoist wouldn't do it,
