I know there are a lot of different reasons that people get what they get for lift kits and I would like to know which kits have a good reputation amongst the Jeepers on this site. I just bought a 2015 Rubicon Unlimited and would like to put up to a 38" tire under it at some point. Most companies only have 3" lifts except for Terraflex who offer a 6" kit but I don't know anything about them being new to the world of Jeeps.

How much lift?

Which brands are good?

I don't mind spending a few bucks the first time to do it right.

Rock Krawler, Metal Cloak, BDS and Synergy all are good. AEV and Teraflex are just over priced for mall crawling.
Flat fenders are also recommended. There is a mechanic some here have dealt with (Fearless Fabrication) that has a great reputation for doing lifts and will give you a discount rate if you do the work with his tools and supervision.

I think I have it narrowed down to a Rock Krawler or a Synergy kit. Still not sure on ride height though. I keep going back and forth about wear and tear on a 6" lift vs. a 4.5"

Yuuuuuup

Go with synergy or rockcrawler for sure..lower the better and cut your fenders to fit rubber

You could also try looking at an air bag system, serves as an on board air as well. Big money, but very plush ride.

4.5 you dont need more and some high line fenders you will be supised how much tire you can fit with little lift on thouse trucks.

oi also vote synergy

had some rock crawler joint fail ( just wear out ) remakably fast on a truck that never did more than a gravel road

Can you not replace those with JJs? I wonder

I like TMR custom arms... Would like those next..

I installed a AEV DualSport 4.5" kit with geometry relocation brackets on a '12 Wrangler, drives fairly nice and with some aftermarket flares, fits 38s with tons of room to spare. kit even comes with a programmer to fix tire size and KILL that blasted tire pressure monitoring system at will.

synergy makes some nice stuff
I have their track bar and adjustable control arms in my one ton for about 4 years truck has seen lots of gravel roads and has been some places a dually shouldn't be
have had zero issues with any of it

Don't use the geometry relocation bracket, it's a joke, too thin and low down. it gets mangled on rocks.

I run a synergy long arm 4.5 love the lift I've beaten the crap outta it and it still holding up strong. Running 37's right now moving up to 42's after I put the 14 bolt and front 60 in it. Stay with the 4.5 lift. You don't need a 6 inch lift if you wanna see it just send me a pm

I appreciate that. I think I have decided on the 4.5 long arm kit so I don' need to bother you to view yours since I've already made up my mind.

Why didn't you didn't have the dealership do the install for the lift? Or do they stop at 3"?

They pissed me off a little and the drivetrain warranty is void either way

Drivetrain won't give any issues, except those pesky front u-joints, they start to click out around 30,000 kms, keep an eye on them. Mine went out, I replaced them and tack welded the caps in place.

I will likely beef up the driveshafts in time. Is there a shaft that offers a better u-joint option?

I have a Aftermarket shafts that use a spicer1310 u joint. Way better that the stock one. But you can keep the stock one until it goes boom lol. I got mine from synergy. It was the 1310 drive shaft kit with new yolks for the transfer case and axels

Sell it. Buy a Toyota

if your not going to be running 40" tires really you gain very little from the long arm upgrade w the jk's as they are already a mid arm kit factory

if you call poly they will tell you the same ... they designed the kit from a performance back ground geometry is great nothing like the tj's and all the issues they had with bad handling and tire lifting from a poor factory design

... imo opinion you can save that loot for bumpers skids and the million other doodads offered for these things to help you

And you can always do the trailing arm and in board coilovers later on.

The Synergy 4.5" Kit is ordered! Gonna be rolling on 38's with flat fenders. Gearing and a rear bumper w/spare tire mount are next on the list. Here's the starting point.

Yay. Now don't fuck everything up by putting trailskinz on it. Ever. Or you're banned.

38s eh...pretty ambitious!

And [stupid] keep the skins off

Little Samurai

Hahaha.... Say no to trail skinz. Not a problem. I have a friend who does vinyl wraps if I ever felt the need to cover up the body panels.

You're gonna need more than trail skinz the way you drive
