What are people using to cut lengths of metal. I bought one of those bench top band saws, never cuts straight. Don't really have room for a full size band saw.
Abrasive or dry chop saw?
Or?

Dry chop saw is awesome on cleaner metal or ideally new metal... I have a Mikita version and it has a good quick release vise and is well made, think it was 500 ish though if I remember right

I use a dry chopsaw, it cuts fairly straight. Some of the bigger stuff it has a problem with.

Sometimes I lay out a nice square line all the way around the piece and go at it slowly with the grinder

I use trailjunkys miter saw with a abrasive disk cuts nice and straight

Chop saw, plasma or Zip disk, when I have my own shop, 7" band saw is going to be one of the first purchases

give them a cut list when you buy the steel. Then chop saw or zippy discs in the grinder or torch then grinder...

Looking like cold cut will be the most accurate. It will be zip disk or crooked band saw for now

chop saw, is the simplest skill saw with an abrasive disc works well as does a zip disc . sawsall can be a bit flippy floppy but they work well .

Steel demon blade in a skil saw works awesome. I don't buy any other blades for for any of my circular saws anymore. I can cut a 2x4 and go straight to cutting ready rod or square tube with the same saw.

band saw is nice you like tinkering Jamie bet if you reduced the pressure
the bench top saw is putting on the blade it will cut straighter
and maybe a good blade in it to would help
