View Full Version : Stave Lake log strike
03-12-2015, 06:21 PM
This doesn't seem to be structural but it could be the source of the vibration.
This is the same log that the Tinkers hit.
It's the lower part of the upper stern Drive where the spedoo cable goes in.
The speedo stop working as well lol
This is the right side and as you can see a section is missing.
This is the left and the crack is about 12" long

Log strike? I didn't know stave had a union

One is forming. we want less logs and more money and of course we want to slack off.
This is ground floor stuff you should get in on it quick....there will be beer drinking and a fire at all meetings

Ouch! stave claims another victim. it could have been allot worse!

I know.....at this point I'm not going to fix this. Unless a boat mechanic can give a solid reason. This boat has to last this season then I'll be looking at a jet or toon

Is that from when I saw u launch out of the water at the end of summer?
03-13-2015, 05:36 PM
Hahaha i was thinking what jamie said...

yup Jet all the way . we ran over tons of logs and submerged stumps and if we had a prop we would have been stuck at the north end of the lake several times over and we wernt even in the nasty stuff. jet is very user friendly and will get you home even after a mishap[cheers]

No this happen when Tinkers and I were heading home. One log submerged just below the water gave us both damage
Jet is the way to go but I'm having a hard time convincing Heyann. The toon is a floathing couch and at night a floating tent.

so get a toon with a jet

jets are great if you plan on hitting lots of rivers and shallow water, but you lose about 1/3 of your hp to slippage and the fuel economy sucks! i wouldnt look at anything smaller then a small block, guy at works got a 24' north river with a 496efi (not that it matters efi/carb, might as well be a funnel) and its a great boat but if your running hard its about 150$ for an afternoon just something to keep in mind. that being said i still havent decided if i want to buy a used 18-20' jet or same sized boat new with an outboard.

Yeah lots to consider. Above all the wife has to be happy and enjoy the boat.

buy a pontoon and a micro 2 person 10ft jet boat and dock the jet on the pontoon command center and then you got the best of both worlds.

If stave is too scary, maybe try the ocean.
