View Full Version : Hoe dent fix

Been bugging me for a while now and really holding up the color plan for the hoe.

The reason i got the hoe so cheap was this dent. It used to be huge but following bruce's advice i reduced it by 70 percent.

Now i want to fix it enough for paint.. Im not looking for perfection cuz it is a 4x4.

Shitty thing is i know nothing about bodywork.

So im hopping to make this a continuing thread on the repair that i will do myself on a budget and take pics n progress along the way.

We gotta have some experts here.

What's the first step?

problem is getting behind it if I remember it only has small
access hole s it's pretty much a pick up box with a roof on it
the stud gun is about the only way of pulling it out farther than he got it
i don't have one do they rent them at your work tuna ?
not having one you have two options in tunas tool and skill level
warm up on your cake decorating and bondo it up
or go to pick apart and cut a piece out of a pick up box big enough to cover dent
pop rivet it over top covering dent continue pop rivet theme around truck
paint teeth on truck have your very own p40 war hawk
or in your case the tuna tank lol rofl

There is a couple access holes on the inside... Expose them is my 1st job.

Not so funny now is when i did the audio install i had to find safe home for 3 large amps.

Guess who used them access holes lol.

Ahhhh crap

Honestly i considered the tango and cash look with a gatling gun on the side.

The real plan is........ The A team color scheme.

Will do black and grey then plastidip red stripe.

If i dont like then remove stripe paint rims and done.

That's the whole reason i still have them but ugly wheels

nope not best way do it wrong and you affect the safety of the vehicles occupants
should not give advice on something you couldn't do your self or have done before
pro circuit could no doubt do it has the skills and the tools but I'm positive
he would at some point go wtf was I thinking this is way bigger a job than I thought
I would be about two days to get it to paint stage
more time with a used 1/4
and a good part of a day putting truck back together
and I have done hundreds of 1/4 panel replacements
and would have the damage fixed and ready for paint in about six hours
add a couple days to the 1/4 replacement with inexperience
so now what's the better way to fix it now that you have idea on the time it would take ?

Remember guys this is a bush truck... Just like my jeep it will mostly be tremclad or krylon i dont need fancy on something im going to push through bush with.

Also the fender flairs will cover most of it.

Slap some bondo on that bitch and sand her down, re shape the 1/4 Panel & then start painting and installing flairs

Exactly what i was thinking... Just need someone to look and tell me if i should go further and how to do it. Before i slap on said bondo.

Never done bondo before either lol

realy if you want to fix it right you need a stud welder. otherwise pull the window grow some long arms and start with the hammer and dolly work

Pretty much what Owen said, bondo is bondo, mix it, spread it on, let it harden, then sand the bitch down and primer/paint, it's a 4x4 not a Cadillac mang, look at my first jeep, hell look at jjs old jeep, not a straight panel on em lol

What's the block of wood for ??

Hitting the dent ??

:dontknow:

Cut out a panel and have someone help you weld it in.

You can probably buy that quarter form an auto body shop or from kms tools.

Was just my 2 cents, i like to do things my way.

Have done it before had a cousin with a 2 door who cleared it out drifting around in the snow, really isn't a big deal if you take your time and do it properly..

but then again i look at things differently.

like i say, my 2 cents.. doesn't have to be picked apart, carry on to the next idea
