So ive got a couple boats and a jeep or two dirt bike and fiddys and a truck and camper ect ect...[36]

Im toying with the idea of saving up for a new or used 4x4 no smaller then say 550 quad or side by side . really its the next logical step i figure.:D

My question to you all experienced quady / side by sidey type folk is this.

New or used ? (whats a good price in your opinion?)
Quad Or Side by side? (Keeping in mind that it will get treated as trailjunkie treats things. lol)
What make and model ?
What size? ( Remember im fluffy.)
Where should i be shopping for said toy? States , up north ,Here? (im against being anally raped and im a c hair from being the working poor at most times.)
what do you all have that i should be buying? ( got one fer sale ? lets see it.)

Thank You For Your Time.

I'm probably out to lunch but I want 10k for this thing. 2009 arctic cat xtz1000 with 600ish km on it. Fully loaded with these oem add ons: full aluminum skid plate package, spare tire mount and spare tire, roof, liner for roof, half windshield, racing drivers seat, winch, upgraded rear springs, itp bajacross 8 ply tires, rear bumper. Needs new battery. Everything else is in new condition.

It has a dumping box with decent amount of room under the hood for storage and front and back 2" hitch receivers so it has utilitarian/camping potential.

The thing is a riot but I just don't have time.

i prefer new. i want to know whats been done to it... good and bad. new costs more, but the blow is lessened with now having to pay tax on used quads.

quad or side by side is a choice you have to make. How many seats do you want need? is this a family thing? you could buy 2 or 3 good used quads for the price of some side by sides. Who will you ride with? what do they ride. side by sides are wider then quads so you may not be able to do the same trails.

i like my 700 grizzly. it does have problems though. I could list them if you want. Im sure all brands have problems.

I was happy with the service at ga checkpoint in yamaha. If i buy another new quad it will be from there.

things you need want depend what you get. but a good start is full aluminum skid plates, winch , grip warmers, meaty tires.

it will be an exploratory toy . searching for new to be trails around hear for the heep and trips to the wandering areas between Merritt and the fisherman's hwy north of kamloops. Ive ridden Yamaha 700's 2000 to 2014 and a 2000-ish 450 and found them capable and comfortable .Not really leaning towards a side by side because im concerned about its capabilities along with Owens comment of "ill break that thing" Im thinking of probably new but there pricey and i like paying cash cause i don't like owing or payments but that may be the only way. I just want to hear what you all think to help me with a decision.

Good points here. I'd lean towards atv. It will fit in the back of your truck. Better for the tight trails. Easier to finds people to ride with. New or used depends on budget

I really like my 2013 700cc Grizzly Yamaha.

Good for smaller trails and old logging roads.

I bought mine new - no mechanical problems until I rolled it last summer.

It cost me $1000.00 in parts and we did all the repairs.

I have a new chainsaw for the front also - the first one got crushed in the roll over.

Good luck with whatever you pick.

Also if you can get a sxs there you can get your jeep there all be it much slower

I would strongly recommend putting FULL skid plates on before the first trail.

http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0550/5273/products/7171f_medium.jpg?v=1407787161

After that it's tires, winch, lights, grip warmers and storage/beer drinking seat

You might think that is a lot but compared to what you can upgrade on a SXS it's a drop in the bucket

also agreed. i think the idea is to fully outfit it right there and just add it into the payment strategy.
