View Full Version : fix it or scrap it

I have a 95 4 runner with good body and frame and motor went has 3.0 and wondering if its worth fixing ..find a used engine or scrap and how hard is it to swap another 3.0 motor into it. I've done 2 of my trackers but there was a hell of a lot more room than this vacuum mess that Toyota has .Is it doable in a weekend by myself. any advice welcome

you can do it in a weekend. it takes about six to eight hours to re and re then deal with the vacuum and wiring stuff

It's not too bad.
I got one for my dad's t-100 for $1000 with 180k, head gaskets were done and so was the oil pan and rear main.
Just mark the vacuum lines, that's the hardest part.
I had to swap the wiring harness, the t-100 was a bit different than the donner 4runner engine.
I'd recommend doing the timing belt, which I did while it was out.
