look like fj40 axles

fj60 fronts have the fill plug a bit lower then center if I remember correct

So with that rear pumpkin being offset will it still mate with the stock transfer case or would i be better to keep the stock rear?

you could run it but will probably run into fuel tank clearance problems, and rear driveshaft vibrations.

I would make a hybrid mini truck/fj40 axle outta the two.

Get a centered rear diff with the 9.5 third

the 40 stuff is same width as up to 85 mini truck 55 in wheel mounting surface
the 60 stuff is same width as ifs 58 in I think
I can't tell in the pic is it disk brake front or drum ?
be prepared cruiser parts are more expensive than mini truck stuff

First things first.. i gotta figure out the gears in this thing and then decided if i want to add on the hassle of swapping the rear.... as of now i dont see a point unless the gearing is different.

probably 4.10 if there fj 40

So how do i distinguish between a fj40 and a fj60.. from what i read its hub to hub..
but what if the hubs have been swapped to truck hubs

10-02-2014, 09:31 AM
Those look like mini truck knuckles/hubs to me on a fj40 housing

I have a fj60 in my truck, I will look today, im pretty sure the diff fill plug is offset lower on a fj60 and its centered on a fj40
