You might be able to jerry rig up an adapter to record video from a VCR to a camcorder and save to the memory chip and then burn through a PC to the DVD or on the hard drive.
A cheaper way is to set your camera in front of the TV and hit record while the VCR plays and turn up the volume.

Any idea if it will work on PAL videos? I have a shit load of home movies that I brought from the UK with Me that I wouldn't mind converting onto DVD

PAL will work here, I bought some DVD's from GB last year, and they emailed me warning about the NTSC/PAL format, my DVD player plays them just fine.

Dave you can get a dual VHS format player to convert I found that Yellow pages has peeps that can do it

I also found that ( this works sometimes )

get 2 VHS players find the signal screw at the back and just turn one of them ..now play from one to the other video record a test then play
