[cheers] Im looking for a little help. Im following this thread while trying to disassemble my winch
The spool was siezed... possibly the brake assy in the drum, or the plastic bushings were shot.. both?...

http://www.wanderingtrail.com/Repairs_Rebuilds/warn_winch/warnwinch.html .... I have everything apart except a couple parts inside the drum. The square rod is still attached to part of the brake assy. I can rattle them around in the drum but they wont come out cause the brake pads are in the way. The pads are stuck in the drum?:dontknow: or are they part of the drum on my winch? I have tried tapping the pads out, but dont want to over do it and break something. Also... the drum fits way to tight on the bushings. Im hoping new bushings should take care of that? the gears, and electrical all still look good.

[cheers] :dontknow: any info or ideas?

Thanks! :D

Well I just learned that I never got the brakes out of mine, I just undid that clip and had those couple pieces come out of the drum and the rod came out but I guess the pads were still in there

man i didnt even know it had a brake in them, i'll be checking mine when i tear it apart this weekend. i thought it was just the coil an the magnets on the left side an the plantaries on the other side with the shaft going through the middle

ok read the above link, no brake, your motor does the braking like i thought
