Just picked this up in Calgary, belonged to my Sister's neighbour and was in his family for a couple of generations though they didn't buy it new. '67 Chevelle Malibu, mostly original, 283 auto (swapped out the powerglide for a TH350 when the slip and slide broke). Has a bit of rust to fix but pretty good for an old Chevelle. Interior is mint but too bad it's red and bench seat.

Going to start off with a power steering conversion and power disc brakes. then to build the 454 I've had in my shop for years - has closed chamber large oval port heads from a 427 on it which are getting some porting done, doing a 496 stroker and putting either a M21 or M22 in it along with a 12 bolt. Keeping it mostly old school, no retromod car here! If someone has a line on an old Muncie or even a super T10 for sale let me know. I can get a brand new one from the states but looking at $2g so a used one would be nice.

If anyone has buckets from that era, think pontiac and olds around the same year are the same I'm looking for a set. Also want a set of camaro or corvette rallys, like I said, old school :D

Good to know. I will find out when the trim comes off. I wish this was an SS but would have paid a lot more! Thought it was a pretty good find being a complete driver. Been looking around Arizona on craigslist for a while and everything is either really pricey or a basket case needing a bunch of parts to put it back together

Kms sells a complete disk brake conversion
Comes with spindles stock or 2 inch drop
Master booster and everything to do the conversion
And it's cheaper than what it cost me to just do the disk conversion on my wagon
Nice looking chevelle if you do the bucket seats I would be interested in your bench seat

I saw those disc conversions on ebay. Cheap too, was under $600 to do the front with everything including spindles and booster. $900 for front and rear. I'll let you know when I get some buckets. This bench seat is mint but red

If you are doing the buckets year 1 makes the proper braces to weld in to the floor so it's like factory Personally I like the bench seat it's like sitting on a big old. Comfy couch and your better looking half can snuggle up to you when it's cold out
And preserves the sleeper look nothing like a low ten second street car
With a bench and shift on the colum

I agree it would be more of a sleeper but I'm reliving my youth through this one, had a '66 Beaumont sport deluxe when I was 18. It had buckets with a 4 speed and a high revving small block :D

Heard from the machine shop today, they magnafluxed the 427 heads and found no cracks. Seats and valves are pitted pretty good so since they have to replace the seats I'm getting big valves put in. Going from 2.06 to 2.19 intake and from 1.72 to 1.88 exhaust. Brother in law is a porting master so opening them up to flow as well as they can for large oval ports.

Nutbar, that's cool he's held onto it for so long! Really wish I'd kept all my muscle cars from 25 years ago! '70 Olds 442, 455 M21; '66 Beaumont SD 350 Super T10 12 bolt, '70 Tempest 400 pontiac and a M21 as well. If only I knew back then how much these things are worth today :D

Yup no Doubt if we new now what we new then
69 stingray 427 stick drag pack optioned car
69 ss 396 stick black on black mint
66 gt mufstain hi po 289 stick
The chevelle drove it home and cut a hole in the big block hood for a tunnel ram
It was a 800 dollar car then lol
Probably a 80.0000 dollar car if it was in the same condition now

Brother in law is making some progress on the heads, new 1.88" hardened exhaust seats, port matched to the gaskets and cleaned up some restrictions in the runners. When he's done with the porting they go in for 2.19" intakes and new guides. Going to mill them after we assemble the bottom end to see how much needs to come off to get the right quench.

And got an awesome birthday present today too! Edelbrock Performer Air Gap intake [36]. One less part I need to save up for :D

Heads are almost done, just need to be decked. Chambers will be 103cc when all done, compression ratio will be 10:1 when the block is decked and .039" head gasket and flat tops. Now to save up for a rotating assembly and get the block to Calgary for machining :D

I'm looking forward to building the engine, just need to work a bunch of O/T so I can buy all the parts for the bottom end!

Picked up a transmission and bellhousing today. '76 Super T10 with close ratio 2.43 first, 2.61 second gear. Started to tear it down, going to put new syncros, bearings, seals etc. Rear reverse idler gear and thrust washer are a little rough but new parts are cheap for these so got those ordered too. Bell housing for a 11" clutch, it'll work with the little 283, then going to buy a scattershield for when the 496 goes in.

Looking for a shifter now, Hurst competition plus I'm thinking, hope it works with the bench until I can pick up some bucket seats.

Nutbar

Comp plus should work with the bench might just need to get a different shift stick. The old man's 66 has a 396 and M21 with a comp plus, buckets and fact center console, what I remember is the stick being slightly ahead of the seats but his only had like a 6 inch straight stick on it. Great for short tight shifts but probably not tall enough to be comfortable with a bench.

Sounds like he has the same shifter I had in my '66 Beaumont, Hurst Super shifter with reverse lockout. Was a shorty but not too bad with the buckets in that car. Hurst also makes a shifter that curves way forward then back, they list it for the '55-'57 Chevy bench seat. Time to do some web research

Still saving up for the rotating assembly for the 496, 9" rear, power steering and power disc brake conversion. This thing is gonna be a money pit for a while :D

This is the shifter I had in the Beaumont, wish I had kept that ST-10 and shifter when I sold the car :(
2nd pic is the '66 when I owned it, couldn't afford to finish it when I was 19. 3rd pic is the current owner, a guy I went to school with. He put a bunch of money into the body alone but it turned out really nice

Bought a used Super Shifter III this week, getting closer to putting the 4 speed in :D

Probably going to order a longer curved stick but will see how uncomfortable this shorty is with the bench first

Pistons arrived today so the block can be sent to the machine shop soon :D

Probe forged 2618 race series pistons. Still need to order the forged stroker crank and rods to go with it to make the 496 but it's getting there [36]
