So I got a new car and ever since then my trucks been breakin down on me. She's a 1985 toyota pickup 4x4 with a 22re and a 5 speed. All she does now is crank crank crank, and no fire :( . There are no mods to this engine and it has 260000km. Fuel filter 5 months ago. Plugs are all wet and it has a fresh distributor cap, wires and rotor as well as a MSD Blaster 2 coil with the factory igniter as my old coil was weak. Any ideas? I really wanna drive my truck again and I need it to get its new engine to the machine shop.

Check for engine codes.

It's a simple jump across two pins.

It's a good place to start.

sounds like no spark if the plugs are wet. Pull spark plug out and check for spark with screw driver. Make sure your grounds are now not rusted (block, battery, msd, etc).

It has great spark now after swapping the msd one in. Gonna check codes tonight and see if there's something in the computer.

its probably low on compression, im not going to pay napa $80 for a tester that im gonna use a total of 4 times so ill see if my neighbor has one tomorrow

Well today I have checked compression and investigated some electrical stuff. All 4 cylinders were about 115 psi of compression. I couldnt see any rodent damage. :(
I checked the coldstart timer switch and the EFI coolant temp sensor as well as the resistance of the coldstart injector which all checked out as good according to the service manual. I then checked the resistance of the Solenoid Resistor which is mounted on the passenger side inner fender and that read 7 ohms of resistance across all the leads. the factory service manual says that it should be no more than 3 ohms.
Could a bad solenoid resistor cause a no start condition? They are obsolete according to toyota and no parts stores anywhere around me can source one so my only option is to drive to calgary or edmonton to search a junkyard for one....

When you turn the key on do you hear a fuel pump prime?

toyotaAlex

Flux capacitor? Low halogen fluid? Muffler bearing?

On the driver side inner fender, between the coil and air box, there is a 2 pin plug. Its in the shape of a "T" or "L" i cant remember exactly...... its not a round plug..... anyway, one pin is ign power. The other pin goes to the fuel pump. Jump those together and fuel pump should run with the key in the on position. See if it starts.
